Can't join machine without full access
Sernet samba 4.2.2 in ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS, a fresh migration from samba 3 (I'm still in the testing phase). I'm experimenting with task delegation. Using the ADUC wizard, I select the "Join machine to domain" task to add to my userid (I also tried a group I'm a member of with the same result), at the domain level (rough translation, this is on a localized windows 7). Samba 4.10.6 for rhel7/centos7 rpms
Hi everyone, I've posted some updated source and binary rpms following the release of updates by the samba project. Updated rpms include samba-4.10.6 and ldb-1.5.5. Here are the links: - http://nova.polymtl.ca/~coyote/dist/samba/samba-4.10.6/RHEL7 As usual, these work fine for me (4.10.6) but YMMV. Please do report issues if you find some. Regards, Vincent

sssd-ad cannot be installed with sernet samba
As I have said: sssd-ad works fine with sernet packages on redhat based distros. Have you tried this? apt-get install sssd-ad samba-libs- Notice the - at the end Found here: http://serverfault.com/questions/250224/how-do-i-get-apt-get-to-ignore-some-dependencies After this, try to resolve the dependencies of the sssd-ad.so file as I have written. Internal DNS strangeness in 4.1.16
Hi, ? I have just provisioned a new samba setup with 2 DCs running ISC DHCPd in failover and I?m trying to get it to play nice with samba internal DNS but I?m having some issues. 1) I?m using on commit, etc triggers in the dhcpd config to call a script that calls samba-tool to add, delete or update DNS. This script works fine when I call it from the command line as the dhcpd user but when called

4.2.1 Indexing attributes
Thank you a lot Luca! I was able to change searchFlags using ldbedit command and I can't test right now the ldbmodify tool as samba seems to be indexing it's database (one thread eating 100% CPU for several minute, since I launched a ldbsearch on "uid" field). I'll try without my typo error (thank you again :) the ldbmodify command (to stop telling it doesn't work when

migrating samba shares to a netapp filer?
Hello, I'll soon have to migrate our samba shares to a netapp filer (not my decision). Currently the shares are on an xfs filesystem and served by samba 3.5.2, which is also the domain controller (a role that it will maintain, only the shares are being transferred) and sama/unix users are in ldap. The filer is in the domain and uses ldap to map user ids and that seems to work. Samba maps the

4.2.1 Indexing attributes
Hi all, System is Centos 7 and Samba is 4.2.1 sernet version. The database contains 120k users and 150k computers. It's size is 3.3GB on DC01 where the imports were performed and 2.8GB on the second DC. I was trying to index uid attribute and I have a strange behaviour. According to https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms679765%28v=vs.85%29.aspx it is the "searchFlags"
