problem with samba 3.0.28/Solaris 8/smbclient
Dear Samba users, I am trying to update our local samba packages to 3.0.28. They are built against heimdal-1.0.1 and openldap-2.3.38. The Redhat Enterprise Linux 3 and 4 packages are working fine so far in my limited testing. The problem with heimdal and "net ads join..." has been fixed on all 3 platforms. On the Solaris 8 server, the "net ads join..." works correctly and the

Does block level replication require local disk access (Block lev el) or can it work with a network share too
Could i run rsync on a linux server which is connected to a network share (NAS) and replicate the diffs of the files residing on the network share? or does this functionality require block level access i.e Local disk or SAN? Many thanks, Antony. ********************************************************************* This e-mail and any attachment is confidential. It may only be read, copied and

Samba4 and NVSv4
Short story: cannot get Kerberized NFSv4 to work. I've googled a great deal and cannot find where I have goofed (and there sure is a lot of misleading and just plain incorrect information out there), so would appreciate another pair of eyes. NFSv4 without Kerberos does work fine, as does ID mapping. We're using NFSv4 in production with sec=sys, but I'm not happy with that. My

Using panel.grid in barchart
Hi all, I'm trying to do an example in Deepayan Sarkar's Lattice book. It involves making a barchart based on the Titanic dataset. I can get the barchart to plot fine; however, when I try to edit panel.grid, I get an error: > titan<-barchart(Class ~ Freq | Age + Sex, data = as.data.frame(Titanic), groups=Survived, stack=TRUE, layout=c(4,1),

smbd wont start
My samba has been setup in its current configuration for around 9 months and has worked without a problem, over the weekend my windows boxes were unable to access the samba shares. Using SWAT I found that the smbd was not starting. I have tried the following: Trying to start smbd (as root) from the cli with: smbd start Seems to execute the command and gave no errors but still swat says that

vcov on result of rlm() yields "-- please report!" (PR#7707)
Dear r-bugs, I looked over the FAQ. Hope I'm reporting this correctly. I ran this on both solaris and windows. I've provided terminal snapshots which include how R was called from the command line, and the result of version at the R prompt. I have attached the .r file, and the data file and the output snapshots. Below also find everything except only a few lines of the data file. Note

Apologies - possible hardware problem?
Good afternoon, I have a home workstation with an AMD CPU, Titan V GPU, 32 GB of memory, and a root SSD and /home on spinning disks. Right now it has xubuntu 18.04 on it and it would boot fine. I shut it down and restarted it to get an inventory before I put CentOS 8.2 on it. It won't boot now. It gets to the grub menu and freezes. I can't use the keyboard to select an item in the menu

Group logon Scripts
We're almost at the stage of rolling out our new RH6.1/Samba server - one last item. We have some 60 users and 7 departments. Can I use/how do I use a logon script to log groups onto the server. I currently have 1 logon script per user, but a small change in 1 share means updating every script. Can I log them on by group ID but still map their personal shares with the %U flag so I then

SNMP agent for NUT
Hello guys, I was some years ago when I sent something to this list. NUT is a great tool but lacks SNMP management. It can access a device using SNMP but I found no way to read NUT values using SNMP. It would be very useful in order to integrate with network management software based on SNMP. As I did not find a solution, I wrote it myself. I wrote a MIB file and a SNMP agent for net-snmp
