How to minimize authentication traffic
Hi,
i have to set up a new server far away from home.
At the central i have a Win 2008 native AD server with a samba AD
member. Now i have to install a new server at an other location with a 1
Mbit/s connection. I don't know yet how reliable the connection will be.
The users "faraway" should not need to manual authenticate to
fileservers in the Central.
What would you

DNS - block ip of second nic
Hi,
i have a samba 4.0 server with bind DNS. I has two configured interfaces
192.168.1.1 and 192.168.2.1. The second nic is just for backup purposes
i don't want it to be accessed by clients. At the moment samba dnsupdate
push the .1.1 and the .2.1 address as server addresses. Windows clients
in the 1.0/24 try to access 2.1 which does not work.
How can i tell samba not to puch the second

Some smbd-processes uses 99% CPU and push load to 10
Hi all
I have a samba 3.0.2a PDC with OpenLDAP running since some month.
Approximatly once in 2 weeks there is a problem with one smbd-child
process which eats up all cpu-resources. I have to kill (-2) it by hand
after that all works normal. I can't figure out why.
Today i had the chance to "strace" this process since all "clients" go
for a birthday party. Now i sit here

sample and rearrange
Dear Wu Gong and Peter Ehlers,
thank you very much for your help debugging my script.
Now I have a general following up question:
Is there a straightforward way to rearrange the following dataset so
that all first letters of each column will be combined in one column,
all the second letters in a second column, all the third ones in a
third column and so on, resulting in 7 columns,
i.e. for

Samba + Bonding = Terrible Performance
Hello,
Please CC replies I'm not subscribed.
Performance with samba and only samba degrades terribly when we use
the bonding driver to aggregate two ethernet cards. Instead of a steady
file copy it seems to go in spurts. If I pull out one of the network
cables (doesn't matter which) performance resumes to full speed. I can
pull the cable in the middle of a transfer and it will go

Notice that some status responses are missing (For folders INBOX.Archive, INBOX.spam.&-BD0EOQQ9BDkEPQ-). I wonder If this is a bug or working as expected
In rfc5819 there is this:
If the server runs into unexpected problems while trying to look up

Following up on this post for the benefit of the archives, I don't
want to be another DenverCoder9! [1]
I believe I have fixed this issue now (although I am at a loss to
explain how it occurred in the first place). Hopefully I correctly
figured out what SPNs should be present against each machine - I'm not
an expert in this area, but am describing the process I went through

3 Interface problem
Having a problem with the 3 interface setup. I can get DMZ hosts, and
FW to see internet, but anything on LOC interface is unable to get
out. My first post to the list didn''t have the information needed,
sorry for that, but thank you for pointing me to more resources. I''ve
looked at the problem myself some more, but am still stuck.

PRI/T-1
Ok so I'm thinking about migrating to a Flex T-1 with 1.024Mb Data and 6
Hard Incoming/Outgoing Phone Lines.
I can either break them out via channel bank and use a FXO to convert them
but I'm told it will add a dely of at least one ring. And you have
another analog/digital conversion to the mix.
The 2nd option is to bring them in over PRI's
Question is the solution provider will
