Upgrade 1.1 to 1.2 double check
Read what I could find on possible upgrade issues and saw only one that
might be a problem. I don't think it will but figured it was worth
checking.
Anything jump out at the more experienced users?

Core dump during UID Search
Hey all,
I keep finding core dumps of the IMAP process on my FreeBSD 11.2, however the backtrace is not very useful:

Authentication process holding open filehandles
Hi,
We're using dovecot to provide pop3 for a number of mailboxes. The setup is pretty simple:
Each user / domain has a mailstore in /data/mailstore/<domain>/<user>/Maildir (backed by NFS).
Passwords are in simple passwd-file format in the top level domain directory eg:
# cat /data/mailstore/foo.com/.passwd
user:{plain}password
The passdb setup looks like this.

Did you install the debug symbols for Dovecot? On Debian, those are
available as a separate dovecot-dbg package. I'm not sure how FreeBSD
provides this.

Stephan.

IMAP not working remotely
Hello,
I am trying to set up Dovecot 2.0.9 on Fedora 14. The problem I would like
to ask for resolution is that IMAP is not working when connecting to the
server from another network.
More precisely:
- POP3 is working entirely OK,
- IMAP is working OK when clients are connecting using local network
addresses, like 192.168.0.100,
- when a client connects from outside, thus using remote IP

Mailbox location
I am running a small server with a fixed number of users. Postfix is using dovecot lda so that I can run pigeonhole. I have setup a user file with the ids and passwords and everything authenticates properly. Postfix uses that also. However, mail is consistently delivered to user at domain. How do I tell it to deliver to just user? I have tried setting a variety of different things like:

dovecot auth
Hi,
I'm using dovecot with a passdb-file .
When I login using : test at testdomain.com I notice dovecot strips off the
domainname and looks up everything in front of the @ in his
passdb-file...
So I went on to configure the following in my dovecot.conf :
auth_username_format = %u@%d
restarted dovecot, but he still strips of the @ and the domainname ...

Dovecot+PostfixAdmin+PostgreSQL on FreeBSD 7
Hi dear All,
Currently I'm configuring Dovecot+PostfixAdmin+PostgreSQL on FreeBSD 7
Stable and using Dovecot v1.1.3. I hope I've configured everything. But
when I run /usr/local/etc/rc.d/dovecot start then dovecot doesn't seems
to running. /var/log/maillog is only showing following.

Sieve 0.5.0/Dovecot 2.3.0
Using 2.3.0/0.5 and the below scripts/config, why doesn?t a mail addressed to ler_freebsd at lerctr.org get the FreeBSD flag?
.dovecot.sieve points to master.sieve.

passdb {driver = shadow args = override_username=%variable}
Hello list
I want to implement override_username = %variable for the "shadow"
driver, so that the following works:
passdb {
driver = shadow
args = override_username=%Ln
}
by "%variable", I mean "Variables" at http://wiki.dovecot.org/Variables.
I've hacked up a solution with strtok(3C), but that's a hack and a
possible security hole, and I'd rather

Pop3 service stops responding
Hi!
I have problem with the pop3 service stops responding at random intervals
on my server. We started to notice this problem as we're running icinga to
check the imap & pop3 service.
When icinga reports that the service is down. We try to telnet to the
server on port 110 but it refuses the connection.
I've checked the netstat during this time and it's listens on port 110. My

login fails when username has apostrophe
Hi
I've added the apostrophe character to auth_username_chars however
authentication still fails. I'm using LDAP with the following details:
dovecot version 1.1.7
openldap client library 2.4.11
With auth_verbose = yes and auth_debug = yes set I see the following in
the logs. Note the initial escaped apostrophe and the subsequent escaped
escape in the filter!

i'll guess the solution to my problem will be something simple and
obvious, because i know i ain't the first person to do this and it ain't
all that complicated, but i've been staring at it for days and can't see
what's wrong.
