Make Winbind/PAM not return domain part for usernames
Hi! I have a problem involving Samba4, exim4, fetchmail, dovecot and PAM... I have setup a "maildrop" machine, which fetches mail from an external POP3 server for multiple accounts and then serves them locally via IMAP. On the same machine, I am currently running Samba 4.0.9 over Debian Wheezy. The idea is that fetchmail gets the mail, passes it to exim4, gets delivered to the "AD

Exim still accepting emails to nonexistent users
After adding the configuration bit: deny message = invalid recipient domains = +local_domains !verify = recipient/callout=no_cache from: http://wiki2.dovecot.org/LMTP/Exim <http://wiki2.dovecot.org/LMTP/Exim> running update-exim4.conf and service exim4 restart the server is still accepting emails to recipients that do not exist in dovecot. Any ideas?

LMTP Post login script for acl_groups
I think, i had the same problem as you. When dovecot runs lmtp, no user is logged in, so there is no user from which you can get groups. So i think, my solution is (not really sure, if this is right, it's a long time ago, i played around) this transport in exim for local delivery dovecot_delivery:????????????? ? debug_print = "T: dovecot_delivery_pipe for $local_part@$domain translates

Dovecot replication, no updates on message deposit
Hi, I am trying to setup dovecot replication based on: http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Replication All mailboxes share the same UNIX userid ('vmail'), and I setup ssh-key based login for this account in both directions. As LDA exim4 is configured to use dovecot deliver LDA. Here is the relevant config from exim: /usr/lib/dovecot/deliver -d $local_part -f $sender_address -a

exim dovecot sieve
Hello list. I have just a generic question. Exim delivers fine to dovecot-lda. My problems are the logfiles. Whenever I recieve a message Exim writes to dovecot.log as the user who recieves the mail. This forces me to have that logfile world writeable. I don't really like that. How do you guys deal with that? Here my transport: dovecot_delivery: driver = pipe # You may or may not

Ubuntu, Exim, deliver: permissions/setgid problem
Hello all, I have a little problem. I'm trying to set up Dovecot deliver (1.0 beta 3) as the LDA for Exim4 on Ubuntu 6.06 with MBOX, and I'm running into permissions problems. Exim typically wants to run pipes as the user to whom the mail is being delivered (as per the "check_local_user"). deliver needs access to the auth socket and needs to be able to create files in /var/mail.

pop before smtp with 'exact' and 'exim4'
Hello, I just thought I would write this in case its useful to anyone. I've used dovecot for a while, as its so easy to set up, its fast and it and just "works". I recently wanted to be able to send via my server after pop3s authentication. I'm also running debian (testing) which utilises exim4 by default. I found no information about how to do it with this combination of

courier to dovecot migration
I have a quite old home server based on Debian 6.x packages using courier imap server (exim4, fetchmail, courier, apache2, squirrelmail) to keep my and my wife emails (about 25G). I want renew my server to Debian 10 (buster) and got a recommendation to use dovecot instead of courier. For this purpose I'm using a different PC as a sandbox. exim4 + dovecot + SquirrelMail virtualhosted on Debian
Hello, I have a Debian machine that is virtual-hosting 6 domains with exim4. I finally got exim4 working well enough where I can send and receive mail using the mail command on my machine. I would eventually like to have SquirrelMail (which requires IMAP) working on my website. For whatever reason, exim4 doesn't seem to support IMAP. I found out that Dovecot is a prominent IMAP server.
