/etc/ttys oddity
I have the following line in /etc/ttys: ttyv8 "/usr/local/bin/kdm -nodaemon" xterm on insecure Because of X misconfiguration it constantly crashed, so: kdm-bin[1178]: Unable to fire up local display :0; disabling. So I fix xorg.conf, then I change on => off in ttys, then I do kill -1 1, and X gets started! Seems illogical. Or maybe kdm-bin does something "smart"

smbclient ignores configured kerberos ccache when using krb5-user on ubuntu/debian
I believe you are hitting multiple things. 1. a bug in smblcient involving that kerberos cache. I seen something passing by on this. 2. krb5.conf has to much in it, just not needed. 3. faulty smb.conf. Its incomplete. But more comment below. > -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- > Van: samba [mailto:samba-bounces at lists.samba.org] Namens > Rowland penny via samba > Verzonden:

need help with keyring
I should mention that I'm a total newbie with keyrings! I tried searching for help sites - found 1, but I still have a problem. If there is a website (or sites) that explain this, please post it (them)! Ok, so I have a laptop with wifi, running CentOS 5.2. When I boot it, it finds the nearby wifi signals, and tries to connect to mine. To do this, it puts up a window to get my default

PAM and GNOME keyring
Hi everybody, I have a CentOS 5.4 server I need to se-up as Subversion server. On the server GNOME keyring has been installed and the integration with Subversion works fine: I'm asked for the keyring password the first time and that's it. I am now trying to set it up so that after login the default keyring is unlocked. This way I won't be asked for the keyring password ever. I have

PAM vs smbpasswd oddity
Hi Folks, so now I've managed to trick the authentication server to caching the one time passwords for me. I'm down to the last two problems: 1. Something odd that I've noticed is that when I use PAM authentication Windows clients are outright refused. When I enable "encrypted" passwords, therefor disabling PAM, I'm then able to log in but with the use of static

wifi and the default keyring
Hello. I'm using my laptop (an Acer Aspire 3680, with built-in Atheros wifi). I installed 5.2 on it, and it's working nicely. But, I have an issue with the keyring. I should mention that this is my *first* experience with keyrings. When I set up the wifi, it stated basically that "nm-applet wants to access the default keyring, but it's locked. Enter password." So I did.

OT-ish: GPG problem
I'm asking here because it is the best resource I know for knowledgeable people. The problem in question occurs on my Fedora 9 box and Fedora 10 netbook, while another person, Chris, has the problem on a Mandriva 2009 box. Whatever is causing it, that leads me to think that it's not distro-specific. Both of us are using kmail. Kgpg sees and lists all the keys on my keyring.

Domain Authentication Issue - Bug Found
Our company has many linux boxes, joined to our corporate domain controllers. Our users authenticate, via command line or via kdm against the windows domain controller. A few months ago, we discovered that new linux machines could not join the domain, but existing boxes had no problems. We performed an extensive study of the domain controller configuration as well as the configuration of the

why kdm crashes
We have a pretty standard installation of CentOS 6.4 on our workstations. We've been running into issues where kdm crashes every once in a while when someone tries to log in on the console. The only way to recover when it happens seems to be to restart kdm (kill -HUP `pgrep -f /usr/bin/kdm`) (or reboot of course) and it never seems to happen twice in a row. I am not sure where to start

Oddity with CentOS 6.4 instasll
I have two SSD laptops. On one of them, I easily installed CentOS. On the second one, it failed at examining storage--it would either freeze completely or crash with a kernel panic message. On the second one, a generic Clevo, I decided to reinstall, and got the same issue--hanging or kernel panic on examining storage, though it had been trouble free the first time. I've been googling
