State graph of UDP data-connections
Hi,
I'm using Tinc in a scenario where round-trip time matters.
I've multiple nodes behind firewalls (with and without NAT) and a single
public server node.
How do I can get the current state of UDP data-connections between my
firewall'd nodes?
According to the docs:
- 'dump connections' give me all TCP meta-connections of the current
node
- 'dump edges' give me

10th anniversary of tinc 1.0
Hello everyone,
Today is exactly 10 years ago that tinc 1.0 was released. I would have hoped to
celebrate this by releasing 1.0.22 and 1.1pre8 today, but this will instead
happen in one week.
Tinc 1.1 is close to becoming stable, and I hope to release 1.1.0 before the
end of the year. The main features of tinc 1.1 are the improved security over
tinc 1.0, and a much nicer interface that makes it

dns resolution behind proxy
Hello list,
I wonder why tinc tries to resolve host names before connection even
with configured (socks5) proxy which fails behind restrictive firewalls.
Is there any "workaround"?
Thanks in advance!

Changes in Makefile/dependencies between Tine 1.0.16 and 1.0.21?
Hi,
currently there is a bug report about CVE-2013-1428 in Ubuntu (
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tinc/+bug/1174763). Are there any
changes in Makefile or dependencies which make it necessary to adjust a
packaging system or does it suffice to adjust version numbers and
source-code url?
Thanx,
Renne

pxelinux.0 doesn't provide downloading progress from images
Hi,
just switched from syslinux-4.0.4 to syslinux-5.0.1 and noticed that
there is no more progress shown when downloading files from HTTP or TFTP.
Do i have to change something in my setup?
I'm usering vesamenu.c32 here is a sample what my menu looks like (just
partial)

Menu entry shifts to the right, when using "{,x}"
Hi,...
my linux distribution is "arch-linux" and I use syslinux 6.03 to boot
this system. I have the following line in syslinux.cfg:
"MENU AUTOBOOT Automatischer Start in # Sekunde{,n}"
While the boot timer counts down, on the last second the menu shifts to
the right (one less character to display). This is completely harmless,
but is very annoying, once you have seen it.

"ConnectTo" to two server for fault-tolerance
Hello,
I tried to use two ?ConnectTo? entries in my config. If both servers are up,
anything is working as expected. But if one of the two servers is offline or
not reachable I will not get a connection at all. Not even to the reachable
server.
I would like to have it fault tolerant, is this possible?
Thanks, best regards,

tinc stable on vista
Hello,
I just would like to know if tinc runs stable on a vista box?
I 'm sure that question has been asked before but I did not find it on
"The tinc Archives".
So maybe someone has some experience and can give a hint or advice.
Thank you

Not seeing any more LocalDiscovery broadcasts
Hi,
I am playing with LocalDiscovery again and have noticed that I do not
see any LocalDiscovery broadcasts anymore.
I am using tinc 1.1-pre9 in switch mode and have set LocalDiscovery =
yes in tinc.conf. I do not see any broadcasts on any network and I also
do not see anything in the debug output.
What to do?

dns resolution behind proxy
Hello Guus,
thanks for Your fast reply.
Does it mean only socks is affected and http proxy should work? If this is the case then this may be a temp. solution.
Thanks and regards!

Throughput on KVM guest - ideas for making it faster
Hi all,
thanks for making Tinc available - it works well and I managed to get a decent configuration going in only a few hours, great :)
I am building a VPN for my cloud servers (hosted at DigitalOcean, they use Linux and KVM). I am on Ubuntu 12.04 with Kernel 3.0.8-36, and tinc is at version 1.0.16.
From a functional point of view, everything works like a charm! But I am wondering, if there is

Maximization of a loglikelihood function with double sums
Dear R experts,
Attached you can find the expression of a loglikelihood function which I
would like to maximize in R.
So far, I have done maximization with the combined use of the
mathematical programming language AMPL (www.ampl.com) and the solver
SNOPT (http://www.sbsi-sol-optimize.com/manuals/SNOPT%20Manual.pdf).
With these tools, maximization is carried out in a few seconds. I wonder

Tinc connection does not come up when started as Windows service
I have a tinc mesh consisting of 6 Windows servers. All are configured identically and all but one work without any problems.
On that one server however the tinc service starts, but the connection does not come up (no packets get routed, ping times out).
If I stop and start the service manually, the connection is up in like half a second. If I start tinc on the command line, it works every time.

[PATCH] Btrfs: set hole punching time properly
Even if the hole punching is executed, the modification time of the
file is not updated.
So, current time is set to inode.

[PATCH 1/3] VFS/ioctl: Add punching-hole support to ioctl().
We're currently support two paths from VFS to preallocate unwritten
extents(from FS_IOC_RESVSP, or fallocate()), likewise, behavior of
punching-hole should be treated as the same, this patch tries to teach
file_ioctl() to handle FS_IOC_UNRESVSP, underlying filesystem like ocfs2
is wise enough to do the rest of work;-)
