Member server only shares locally
Hello
In 2 different subnets I have setup 2 identical samba servers (RH 6.5) as
fileservers for windows clients. Each is a member of it's own AD Domain
(Windows 2003 Servers).
The problem: one of them only is accessible and sharing locally.
On the windows-client, trying to mount a share gives this error:
C:\Users\testuser>net use y: \\samba_server\topfolder /user:testuser

No takers thus far. These are the Samba 4.2 changes to which I
previously referred (https://www.samba.org/samba/history/samba-4.2.0.html) :
For the client side we have the following new options:
"require strong key" (yes by default), "reject md5 servers" (no by
default).
E.g. for Samba 3.0.37 you need "require strong key = no" and
for NT4 DCs

You may have included this in another email however I will ask anyway, did
you set DNS to your server in the Linux and Windows clients? Can you check
if a Windows Server can join? Can you use DNS management to check the DNS
on you samba server?

I have an NT domain on Debian Stretch. It's been upgraded numerous
times, but has been running for almost a decade. Since upgrading from
4.1.17 to 4.3.3 (huge Debian jump), then to 4.3.6, clients cannot
connect to shares. Prior to upgrading, I found the changes mentioned
for 4.2 regarding NT domains and applied them. Even so, I still cannot
connect to network shares nor print to

win 10 login - Not enough storage is available to process this command
Is this one computer causing issues, or more than one?
When logged in to the computer, what do you see in the Event Viewer
(eventvwr.msc) relating to the time of your login?
Are you using Samba in NT mode or AD mode?
Can you run a command as an AD user (for example, click on Start, press
Shift as you right-click on an application and choose "Run as other
user...", and enter a domain

trust relationship - a bit of a puzzle
hi all sambians
A bit of a puzzle my samba turned into, I hope you can help.
I've had 3.6.x for many years and many Win 7 (also XP in old days)
clients until last Sunday (I think) when I updated samba.
Just two win7 I get infamous = trust relationship between this
workstation ...
There rest of win7s are fine.
Nothing really changed in terms of configurations, not on the server

win 10 login - Not enough storage is available to process this command
hi everyone
I've had a Win 10 Pro client to a non-AD samba fine for a
long time.
Suddenly I could not logon new user(which had not logged in
on that Win box before). I was lazy, I remember that
quickest thing that worked once in the past was remove &
re-add client, you know, in Windows itself, to the domain.
Now I cannot login any user at all at that Win box(even

just got new installation off a 1709 build but this time it's "Education

I cannot get to shares, on that "Education N" I get no login/credentials

understanding an error message
I have a toshiba copy machine that is also used as a scanner.
The scanner can be set to store files to a SMB UNC. So I create a
username/password for the scanner to login with, then configured a unc path
for to store to. All was working well for a while.
Then the scanner stopped storing to the samba share. Initial analysis
seemed to indicate that the username/password was failing.
So I reset it

Public Share on Samba with ADS security
Hello, list;
This is my second try asking for help. One person responded and provided help, but I still can't seem to work this out. I've searched, but have failed. I'm not new to Samba, but I can and do make mistakes...so here I am.
I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 13.10 with Samba 3.6.18. I have Kerberos properly configured and have successfully joined the domain, and can list

Samba 3.6 File server with W2k3 DC
Hi,
I've been fighting against a file server with samba 3.6.9-151.el6
authenticating from a windows 2003 server. I've read a thousand posts
and howtos with all kind of samba versions without success.
It looks like windbind is not processing things right. I've set the unix
permissions on the folder to CANAL4\graficos right and the parent folder
is world readable so this should not be

User is invalid on this system
Hello all.
We are running Samba 3.6.6 on a Debian 6.0.6 server. We made the upgrade from 3.6.5 to 3.6.5 about a week ago and ever since we have lost the ability to map Samba shares from our Windows XP SP3 and Windows 7 clients:
Here's an example from my workstation (logging verbosity set at 10):

mount cifs
Hi,
I updated our servers to 4.2.11, and I have a problem, but I'm not sure
if the problem is related to the update.
I am trying to use mount.cifs:

winbind authentication FAILED with error NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER [samba 3.6.12/AD/openindiana(illumos)]
Hi,
My OpenIndiana (opensolaris) machine is joined to Active Directory.
I'm using samba 3.6.12 from OpenCSW.
wbinfo -u is working fine, getent was not working in the beginning,
but after some fiddling with libraries it was working ( I had to
create the following two symbolic links, not sure if they both are
correct)
/lib/libnss_winbind.so -> /opt/csw/lib/libnss_winbind.so.1

I've had a call from a client yesterday who had issue with his copiers'
scan2folder feature after badlock samba file server upgrade. The
mount.cifs ntlm basic auth was not working either, and we had to
