Failed RPC Call
I am totally at a loss.
I use domain authentication off an NT Server 4.0 computer with service pack
5. I use Samba 2.0.6 running Mandrake 7.0 on my fileserver. I've tried
both the "stock" version of samba that came with Mandrake and also a fresh
build from the tarball off samba.org's mirror site. Here is the problem:

good solution for "automount" homes
All,
On our main file server, all our home directorys are automount
points. So /home isn't a real filesystem area, it points to a bunch of
different home areas based on the auto.direct table. Example:
/home/user1 mounts from --> /export/home1/user1
/home/user2 mounts from --> /export/home2/user2
/home/user3 mounts from --> /export/home2/user3
/home/user4 mounts from -->

BUG IN SAMBA 3.0.4 ?
I used the samba-3.0.1pre1 without problems.
When I use the samba-3.0.4 (bug ms04-011 fixed), i can?t write in all shares.

I use the same smb.conf

Users can read/write to other user's directories
Hi,
I am setting up Samba on my CentOS server and have Samba version 3.0.28-1.el5_2.1.
I started configuring the smb.conf file and then went on to use webmin to configure it.
I have made sure I have restarted Samba after making changes.
When I connect from my Windows PC to the Samba server, I can read and write to other Samba user's directories.
Here is an ls from my CentOS server:

Samba 4.1.0pre1 and problem from creating home users dir from command line
Hi all;
I successfully run samba 4 as DC. Joining win7 into it working, mobile

https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO
Because in my domain I will use few hundred acccounts I want to automate
account creating in my domain.
I would like to do that via bash script from linux side.
I tried to create account via command:
./samba-tool user create demo8

Domain Admin cannot access files
Hi
I just joined a Samba 3.6.3 machine as a file server for a Samba4 domain.
Normal users can login and reach the shares apart from the domain
Administrator.
After Administrator has logged in, any attempt to reach the file server
results in a username and password prompt. Supplying the correct
information still will not allow share access for Administrator.
Using s3fs under Samba4,

Re: PDC with roaming profiels
Hi All,
Hopefully someone knows the answer to this? I have a RH 7.3 box running
Samba 2.3a as a PDC for over 1 1/2 years now. Things are good for the most
part, except some minor annoyances with the way windows (2k) is handling the
roaming profiles. Maybe I need to alter the permissions for the users
profile, any insight would be wonderful though. The profiles copied to the
local box under

FILE CACHE/LOCKING DOES NOT WORK
The problem:
A file updated on a UNIX box (Solaris2.6) then viewed on a Win95 PC via
samba is fine, if you copy this file using Windows Explorer to e.g. your
desktop, this is fine first time. But, if you repeat this operation then
the file size reported by Windows Explorer is correct but the file size
reported on the local copy is still the original size. This operation needs
to be repeated

Wrong acl and permissions on cifs mounted share
Hi everyone
I have these shares in smb.conf:
[home2]
path = /home2
read only = No
[home]
path = /home2/home
read only = No
I mount [home] on a Linux client like this:
mount -t cifs //hh1/home2 /home2 -osec=krb5,rw,multiuser
Here is the output of the mount command:
//hh1/home2 on /home2 type cifs

samba 3.0.22 default ACL issue
Hi,
I use samba 3.0.22 as PDC on Debian with workstations under windows XP
SP1 and SP2.
I use ACLs to have a fine grained access rules.
When I copy a directory from a client to a samba share, default ACLs are
forgiven.
exemple : after I copy the directory A on the samba share :
getfacl A/
# file: A/
# owner: user1
# group: sambausers
user::rwx
group::---
other::---
default:user::rwx

-z and -B65536 causing file corruption in 2.5.5 w/zlib 1.1.4
When using the -z and -B65536 options together, sometimes there is file
corruption. Client and server are both compiled against zlib 1.1.4, so
the gzip corruption shouldn't be there, right?
With -z and -B32768 there is an error, but it is detected in a different
way.
With -B65536 and without -z all seems to be going OK.
With -B16384 and with -z all seems to be going OK.
I'm guessing

Samba4 winbind and .gvfs share mounting in Nautilus problem
Hi everyone
I have S4 with winbind working fine with s3fs. Fine that is only when
logging in where it auto-mounts my own /home folder.
When I log in, my /home folder is correctly mounted automatically:
gvfs-fuse-daemon on /home/CACTUS/steve/.gvfs type fuse.gvfs-fuse-daemon
(rw,nosuid,nodev,user=CACTUS\steve2)
When I attempt to access another share by e.g. smb://server/reports (or

mounting gfs partition hangs
Hi,
I have configured two machines for testing gfs filesystems. They are
attached to a iscsi device and centos versions are:

Linux node1.fib.upc.es 2.6.18-164.el5 #1 SMP Thu Sep 3 03:33:56 EDT 2009

The problem is if I try to mount a gfs partition it hangs.

My ignorance and Fuse (or glusterfs)
I have a very simple test setup of 2 servers each working as a glusterfs-server and glusterfs-client to the other in an afr capacity.
The gluster-c and gluster-s both start up with no errors and are handshaking properly..
One one server, I get the expected behaviour: I touch a file in the export dir and it magically appears in the others mount point. On the other server however, the file

Particular user post-login hang
Greets,
I'm using dovecot 2.0.9 (also tried rolling back to 2.0.8 which does the same
- the output below is from 2.0.8), and this problem is imap specific.
The following is a recurring problem with a specific user - as far as we can
tell, other users are working just fine (there are thousands); but I bet there
are others.
In a nutshell: User authenticates OK, then the imap process hangs.
