Problem with dynamic DNS
Why would I do that? This is a *computer* not *user* adding the record. It is supposed to match the "grant INTERNAL.DOMAIN.TLD ms-self * A AAAA;" rule but it does not. For some mystical reason. Problem with dynamic DNS
(please reply to the list) If the record does not exist, then you have an other problem. Because samba does support this : cat /var/lib/samba/private/named.conf.update /* this file is auto-generated - do not edit */ update-policy { grant INTERNAL.DOMAIN.TLD ms-self * A AAAA; grant Administrator at INTERNAL.DOMAIN.TLD wildcard * A AAAA SRV CNAME; grant

Dynamic dns update intervals
Hi We're testing the sssd dynamic dns for AD Linux clients. The w7 clients seem to issue an update request every 20 minutes or so, which seems a bit excessive. The sssd default is 24 hours, which otoh seems a bit mean. Is there an official Samba stance on this? Anyone else using dyndns with Linux boxes? Cheers, Steve

Problem with dynamic DNS
Hi! We are facing problems with Windows 10 and dynamic DNS. The problem is that samba_dlz prevents AAAA deletion. Can we permit AAAA somehow or fix this? Disabling IPv6 and removing IPv6 driver from interface made no difference whatsoever. This works on Windows 7 just fine. Samba version: 4.1.6-Ubuntu We see the following with wireshark: Domain Name System (query) Transaction ID: 0x8aa4

Internal DNS CNAME To Amazon Web Services Problem
Hello Samba Mailing List We cannot ping or browse to our web site hosted on Amazon S3 because the CNAME entry in our Samba 4 Internal DNS does not resolve properly, and this maybe because of the old version of Samba we are running on our DC. Samba version... 4.1.0pre1-GIT-8aae8b5 Command line used to add CNAME entry... $ /usr/local/samba/bin/samba-tool dns add dc1 domain.com www CNAME

Internal DNS CNAME To Amazon Web Services Problem
Hello! To me this sounds a bit like https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9409 Can you confirm that? Internal DNS CNAME not working
Samba 4.0.0 I am running all of these commands from the PDC DC1. /etc/resolv.conf domain mydomain.com nameserver 127.0.0.1 smb.conf does have a dns forwarder = 192.168.1.2 samba-001 the actual host name, and also a PDC, in the same domain. I would like to have the alias my-server point to samba-001. I added a CNAME record: bin/samba-tool dns add 127.0.0.1 mydomain.com my-server CNAME

New DNS-Records not aviable
Funny you should post this now. I was just cleaning up some DNS records and the following happend. I had to PTR records with an empty timestamp. I deleted them and wanted to recreate them. My reverse Zones are 0.168.192.in-addr.arpa and 2.168.192.in-addr.arpa both of the records I delted were in the "0" zone. The first i recreated with: samba-tool dns add dc1

Samba4 DNS - Adding CNAME
Hi All, I'm using samba 4.0.0alpha21-GIT-UNKNOWN provisioned to use the internal dns server. I'm having a bit of trouble adding a CNAME entry, or more correctly, getting it to resolve after adding. Prior to adding the CNAME a query returns (the relevant record); Name=centos, Records=1, Children=0 A: 192.168.1.11 (flags=f0, serial=2, ttl=900) It's more than likely me doing

Samba4 Internal DNS CNAME entries
I am currently in the progress of testing the replacement of a Windows 2003 DC with a Samba4-based one. In the DNS of old Windows DC we had CNAME entries to alias www.domain.com to serverX.domain.com and ftp.domain.com to serverY.domain.com. This is working and can be tested successfully with dig The CNAME entries were correctly replicated across to the internal DNS server on the new Samba4 DC

Samba4 Internal DNS - CNAME not working
Hello, It seems Samba4 is having problems with CNAME records. I am seeing the same behavior as mentioned in the thread below. Is there any ETA on a fix for this? This is identical to the problem with MX records. This is currently a much bigger problem than the MX records. I appreciate any assistance. I'm confused, the logs look like AD DC logs, but you say you were configuring the separate Samba file-server. Can you clarify?
