“Failed to find a writeable DC for domain” joining to win2k3 AD DC
I have a CentOS 6.4 box with SerNet's Samba 4.0.8 installed and no
smb.conf file yet, as it should be. I want it to become an AD DC in my
existing Windows domain, replicating from the existing Windows Server
2003 box. I have SELinux enabled and want it to stay that way.
I'm getting this error trying to run samba-tool:
$ sudo samba-tool domain join currentwindowsadserver.mydomain.lan

Samba DC join fails - IPv4/IPv6 issue
Guys,
I'm facing this problem too:
https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2013-March/172230.html
I have two Samba4 AC DC, in both located in my office, dual-stacked,
working like a charm.
Now, I need to deploy a third DC, located within Amazon EC2, which does NOT
have IPv6.
But, samba-tool fails to join.
How can I workaround this, without enabling a tunneled IPv6 within my EC2 ?

Samba DC join fails - IPv4/IPv6 issue
Hi list,
I just tried to add a second DC to an existing Samba4 domain using samba-tool
(both hosts run latest samba4 git version).
But the join failed, complaining about being unable to find a writeable DC:

WG: After Upgrade to Samba-4.3.4
What I have done bevor updating to 4.3.4 and it was working until then.
I userd the map unix tab in ADUC and gave uid and gid to all users /groups but administrator.
This worked until the update. Now the dcs mix up only!!! group ids with computer ids (security tab)

Feature Request: Ability to join a IPv4-Only DC, into a Dual-Stacked "Samba4 AC DC" PDC.
Hey guys!
To make the adoption of IPv6 networks with Samba4 more smooth / robust, I
think that it is vital to give to Samba4, the ability for it, to join a
IPv4-Only Secondary DC, into a Dual-Stacked Primary DC. This doesn't work
today.
Otherwise, these days to enable IPv6 within a "Samba4 AC DC" network, it is
a requirement to enable it, simultaneously, on each and every network

Windows 10 does not register dns in samba 4.3.4
Are your running more domains on this samba server, this is the primary domain? tplk.loc ?
The settings below looks good, you can try setting ipv4 preffered over ipv6 ( or disable ipv6)
You can try also it with a fixed primary dns suffix.
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc786695(v=ws.10).aspx
1.Open the Network Connections folder and view available connections.
2.Right-click the

Samba 4.1.9 member server config in a samba 4 ADS Domain
Dear all,
I try to setup a samba 4 member server on centos 6.5. The wikis and howtos I
have found are very confusing.
Which is the right way to do this. So winbind can map the domain users and
groups.
What I have done yet is,
Set up Kerberos working and can contact my ADS-kerberos Servers:
klist
Ticket cache: FILE:/tmp/krb5cc_0
Default principal: Administrator at TPLK.LOC

Samba4: Strange Behaveiour On Home share with 2 DC replicating /vfs glusterfs
There is a strange behaviour having two DCs joined in one Domain concerning
the [home] share.
The [home] is fixed on a replicating gluster volume on both DC.
Now creating the users directory with ADUC ex.: \\s4master\home\%username%
would do the necessary and the directory is created on both dcs. On the
first DC all working fine
without any issue but on the second the user cannot login their home

samba4 + LDAP
Hello all,
we are currently running several samba 3 services to give CIFS access to
shares (mostly homedirs).
Well, access to the shares are controlled by our LDAP service (not AD,
OpenLDAP). Our servers are
using sssd + pam to check wether or not a user is allowed to mount the
share (on some old
servers we also use the pam_ldap module for pam).
Now, we just want to run samba 4 as simply as

Samba 4.1.17 Raise domain level to w2008 R2
Dear all,
My , samba-tool domain level show shows me it is W2003:
[root at s4master ~]# samba-tool domain level show
Domain and forest function level for domain 'DC=tplk,DC=loc'
Forest function level: (Windows) 2003
Domain function level: (Windows) 2003
Lowest function level of a DC: (Windows) 2008 R2
Can I raise without issues to W 2008 R2?
Or should I stay with 2003?
Greetings
