How to display the IP on the welcome screen
Hi all, I'm running CentOS 5.4 in a VMware guest, with the host connected to a DHCP enabled LAN When CentOS comes up, I would like to see the IP adress displayed on the welcome screen. This would save me the hassle of logging in the VM, getting the IP, and logging off before finally ssh'ing to the VM. Does anyone have a clue on how to do this ?? Thanks! PS: security is not an issue as

The packages cifs-utils samba-client samba-common are installed, up to date etc... These

--stats and performance issue
Hello, My question is regarding the interpretation of --stats output and whether I have a performance issue or not. Can the client/server architecture (rsync client on one machine, rsync server on another machine) be far slowlier than a local rsync session ? This is the ouput of an rsync session: date rsync -v --recursive --links --perms --times --group --owner --xattrs --acls --delete

Support policy CentOS 5
Hi list Can someone tell me what the exact CentOS policy for end-of-life is for 5.0? Let me explain: I have been using RHEL for a number of years and had to switch to Fedora for installing some packages only supported under F6. As I find Fedora's policy for release life duration too stringent (and I do no longer need the packages that made me choose F6), I'm considering switching over

Upgrade to CentOS8
Hi folks I have a couple of Zotac mini PCs running CentOS7 which I want/need to upgrade to CentOS8 In theory, they are CentOS8 capable, but assuming Murphy might be lurking around, I prefer validating the hardware before starting the effective installation As there is no LiveCD, what would be the recommended way to do this? Thanks!

Upgrade to CentOS8
Hi Leon, I don't have the infra (nor the knowledge or expertise) to create a LiveCD I didn't think about Fedora. This is indeed a good pointer, I will definitely try that Actually, I'm not too worried about the basics, but rather about the wifi, audio & video drivers (one of the boxes is a multimedia system) Thanks!

RODBC, IODBC and Mac OS X
Dear All, As some of you in the archive, i am experiencing problems in using RODBC with IODBC on Mac OS X Panther. I am currrently facing two problems. The first one is apparently linked with IODBC (according to returned R error message) although testing the database access from IODBC manager seems to work fine. The second is by far more radical, R purely and simply reports an error ,

doveadm output format changes
It appears that doveadm output format changes every now and then, without particular notice. For example, the following command: doveadm -f pager mailbox status 'messages recent' '*' did output something like this until v2.2.24 : mailbox: Mailbox1 messages: 58 recent: 12 ^L mailbox: Mailbox2 messages: 128 recent: 0 but switched to that in v2.2.26 : Mailbox1 messages: 58
