I have a question ... How can I migrate existing LDAP users ( or schemas) on Ubuntu 10.04.2 to the new Samba4 (Ubuntu 12.04.2) server? Does anyone have an idea? Import USER and PASSWORD Samba3+OpenLadp TO Samba4
Good morning people! I would like some help from you, I'm looking to migrate my 300 registered users in my samba3 + openladp to my new domain Samba4. I will rejoin all machines in the new domain, but would not want to register the 300 users again. I managed to import the user with the ldb command: ldbadd -H /var/lib/samba/private/sam.ldb newusertest.ldif When I give the command: samba-tool

Advices about migrate W2000 domain to SAMBA4
Hi, People: We have a Old (well functioning) Windows 2000 AD domain. We wish migrate DCs, if posible, to SAMBA4.? We actually have four sites with one DC in three of them and three DCs in one of them. Just one DC is Windows 2008, the rest is Windows 2000. Join SAMBA4 as DC automatically is not posible, I think, because DNS servers are not configured with 2008 behaviour and actual DNS entries

Migrate from sernet-samba to samba4
Hello All, Is it possible to migrate from 4.2.14-SerNet-RedHat-23.el7 to samba-4.4.4-13.el7_3.x86_64 on centOS7? I've got two centos7 servers running sernet versions of samba. Both are AD DC's, with 600 users. If I run yum install samba4, I get a promising error back: Package samba-4.4.4-13.el7_3.x86_64 is obsoleted by 99:sernet-samba-4.2.14-23.el7.x86_64 which is already installed So,

Migrate from sernet-samba to samba4
I want to migrate from Sernet samba as well, and to make matters worse it's not a current version (I'm on 4.1.17-SerNet-Debian-10.wheezy) If I understand correctly, I should compile the same version of samba as my Sernet version, join it, demote the Sernet server, and after that's completed and working properly, upgrade the new samba server. 4.1.17 doesn't show in the downloads

Samba3 to Samba4 migration: Databases and backend.
Hi! We're currently in the process of evaluating an upgrade from our current setup (Samba3 with Kerberos/OpenLDAP and Bind), to Samba4. When we started reading about the migration process, we were led to believe that OpenLDAP wasn't fully supported in Samba4, and thus decided to use Samba4's builtin solution. Then upon reading the How-To on the Wiki, the "Migrating from LDAP
