Dsync confusion...
Hi,
Maybe I've been staring at config files and man pages too long, but the
doc page for Dsync is a little confusing and I don't how to solve my
problem. I've probably missed something simple and stupid, but as I
said, I've been staring at this problem too long and need a second pair
of eyes on it !
Per doveconf below the user/owner for auth db is a user with shell

Sure but imapsync does not preserve message UID's which means that users
end up redownloading all their messages or message/UID mismatches will
happen.

dsync: INBOX Can't be deleted
Hi,
I am Migrating an old cyrus mailserver to dovecot.
in the old cyrus Mailserver all User Mailboxes are
sub-mailboxes of their INBOX.
I have to preserve that structure.
During Migration with dsync I get these Errors:
Error: Mailbox INBOX sync: mailbox_delete failed: INBOX can't be deleted
Is there a way to work around these Errors ?
Thanks

Dear all
I have a few public folders setup and working fine, and one such public
folder is 'Public/General'. I'm trying to sort dsync replication out to
another server and notice that the system log is full of error messages
similar to:

Dsync issues between Cyrus and Dovecot
Hello,
I have some issues related with dsync when trying to perform two way synchronization between Cyrus and Dovecot.
1st time synchronization always works and email, folders, flags can be synced between these but once for example in dovecot side the user creates a folder, dsync fails with the following errors:
Debug: brain M: Other brain should change mailbox INBOX/dove GUID

General questions about TCP replication with dsync
Hi Guys,
I would like to question why I see this errors in my logs.
Let explain me!
Dovecot version: 2.2.9 (on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS)
I?ve configured our dovecot servers (2 servers) to do the TCP replication
with dsync.
This is working flawless.
1. Question:
In logs I can see this errors on every sync (on the ?slave? server / server
without changes which should be updated):

convert to mdbox
Hi
How can I convert all virtual mailboxes from maildir to mdbox? Manually,
one by one, working, but I have a lot ...
Virtual users and domains stored in sql database.
Thats what I want:
mail_location = maildir:/var/vmail/%d/%n/Maildir
to
mail_location = mdbox:/var/vmail/%d/%n/mdbox
Thanks

Best practice for sieve script synchronization
We consider deploying a two server active-active setup with
dsync replication for ~2500 users.
I was wondering how people handle sieve script synchronization in such
setups.
We came up with a few options for syncing:
1) rsync/unison ~/sieve every x seconds
2) move sieve dirs to separatate partition and sync with
gluster or drbd
3) patch roundcube managesieve sieve plugin to upload

dsync should sync sieve-dirs to!
Having dsync to make backups from existing mail-spaces, it would be nice
to make dsync syncing the sieve-dirs too. -Otherweise backups aren't
complete...

doveadm + dsync merging
doveadm already supports some nice things, such as being able to remotely launch a doveadm command via TCP socket. It also supports executing a command for all users or to some specific users using a wildcard. dsync could use these features, so I merged dsync and doveadm into same binary for v2.1.
I'll still install "dsync" symlink pointing to "doveadm", and running that

Dovecot CalDAV server
I've been once in a while over the years thinking about implementing CalDAV (and CardDAV) to Dovecot. It might be time to start that soon. Does anyone have any suggestions? So far my main goals would be:
- scalable, of course
- configurable storage (object storage, regular fs, maybe some key-value dbs, maybe storing as emails)
- efficient indexes (potentially using key-value dbs? or maybe

backup mdbox best strategy
Hello,
i have to backup (tape library) a mailsystem with about 300.000
Mailboxes on 2 backends. Summary of all mailboxes are 2 TByte.
The mailstore is mdbox.
Is it save to do a simple filesystem backup (full and incremental) with
backupsoftware?
What is the prefered strategy to do a backup for desaster recovery
(mailsystem crash) and restoring single usermailboxes?
Regards,
Claus
