Hi Joshua,
Not a fix for your issue, but Ben noticed this (and fixed it):
https://github.com/skeggsb/nouveau/commit/024bda7d2b0c3b0731433d60a494c78ab58cb216
which is what causes us to even try 540MB/s link training. However
with this fix applied, it'll just give up faster. I'm told eDP is
generally a single lane, and you're trying to get more than 270MB/s.
So ... the question is ...

3rd party repositories
Can anyone comment on the use of 3rd party repos for newer versions of
software like php, python and mysql? Two I am aware of are puias and ius.
Is one preferable to the other? Can their packages be installed in parallel
to and without interfering with base packages?

Just curious if any of the recent fixes have addressed this. :)

Problems with Windows 7 on domain, Samba server not
I've googled and read, and haven't run across any solutions to this
problem. Yes, I know about the "Network Security: LAN Manager
authentication level" change, but, as you will see, this isn't the
issue.
Samba 3.4.7
Windows 7

I've added debugging command-line parameters to the kernel command line, per
skeggsb and imirkin on #nouveau.
root at joyful:~# cat /proc/cmdline
BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-5.3.0-26-generic root=/dev/mapper/vgubuntu-root ro quiet
splash log_buf_len=8M nouveau.debug=disp=trace,bios=trace,i2c=trace 3
On this particular run, closing the lid and then opening got me back to the
console, but then I

Howdy! I've been doing a lot of troubleshooting, and haven't arrived at a

Qanah being put on the back burner - for now
All -
I owe a few people an apology. I jumped in to trying to start up a
project at a time when my schedule just wouldn''t handle the load. I
did not accurately estimate my time commitments for the coming months
when I made the announcement of Qanah this past March.
So, for now, Qanah is being put on the back burner. Note I didn''t say
abandoned: just postponed. If you

networking problem/Domain not available
I've got a client - a cheap client - and they want to add a new file server
(samba sharing) to their network. They have one samba server already acting as
the domain controller (PDC) and file server (and DHCP server). The wiring is a
nightmare, and everything is daisy chained through 3 different non-
programmable switches. They have no more open ports on any of the switches.
Further, the

*sigh* another RH5 /tmp problem
RedHat 5, when using dhcp to configure the interface calls a script
called "ifdhcpc-done" to be executed after a dhcp interface is
configured. At the end of the process it updates resolv.conf:
if [ -f /etc/dhcpc/resolv.conf ]; then
echo "setting up resolv.conf" >> /tmp/dhcplog
cp /etc/dhcpc/resolv.conf /etc

By default Shorewall in Ubuntu has an empty set up. You can find the
default values for Shorewall in
/usr/share/doc/shorwall-common/default-config. And examples in
/usr/share/doc/shorwall-common/examples. We will create a basic set up.
First configure which network adapters we are accessing the net.

Exposing extra subnet via Tinc
Hi!
I'm currently using Tinc to create a VPN between a Linux server, a Windows
server, and my local laptop and desktop computers (both running Windows). I
picked an IP in the 10.123.1.x range for each server, and added something
like "Subnet = 10.123.1.1/32" to each host config file. It's working very
well!
What I'd like to do now is expose an extra subnet to the VPN. The

Creating network bridge without IP address
Hi everyone!
I have the following setup:
domain0
|-domU1
|-domU2
|-domU3
I am running this with libvirt on a XEN server. Right now the server is connected to our office network, but later it will be in a hosted environment. I need domU1 and domU3 to have a public IP, and all of the domUs and the dom0 should have an internal IP address to communicate with each other. So this is what I would like

dhcpcd.conf
Hi,
ran into a problem w/ linode hosted VM where IPv6 address changed after
they migrated it to a different host.
They claim I can fix it with
sed -i 's/slaac private/slaac hwaddr/' /etc/dhcpcd.conf
However there appears to be no dhcpcd.conf on any of my CentOS 7 systems.
What is the CentOS 7 equivalent?

Can you explain me this behaviour please?
Hi,
I found a behaviour of rsync I cannot explain.
1) rsync -vaS --delete-after --include-from=/etc/rsync.inc
--exclude-from=/etc/rsync.ex / server:/
2) rsync -vaS --relative --delete-after --include-from=/etc/rsync.inc
--exclude-from=/etc/rsync.ex / server:/
I sync most of one server to another as a fallback server. I had the
relative option first (dont know anymore why), then
