NFSv4 on CentOS 5.5
Hi,
What is the magic juju that I have to put in /etc/sysconfig/autofs to
get autofs to default to using NFSv4, rather than NFSv3, for mounting
file systems?
I don't want to place these flags into the automount maps themselves
because we have a varied network with Sun, CentOS, RedHat and
Macintosh systems, and the flags that have to get added to automount
maps (which we distribute centrally

SSHMenu (Gnome Applet) for CentOS 6
Hello,
I know that there exists a package for Gnome SSHMenuApplet for CentOS 5
(e.g. see
http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/epel/testing/5/ppc/gnome-applet-sshmenu-3.15-5.el5.noarch.html).
The package sshmenu (which I found here:

AMD Liano A8 Processors supported on CentOS 6.x?
Hi.
Red Hat is saying that AMD Liano A8 CPU's are not supported by
RHEL/CentOS 6: https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/articles/65431
Is that true? What can I expect if I try to install CentOS 6.3 on PC
with that CPU?

Booting problem after update, how to track order of starting services
Hi.
I have updated system/server that worked for a long time. It was upgrade
from 6.4 to latest.
After restart, system freezes after most/all of the daemons are booted.
From interactive mode I found out that services starting are:
...
...
atd
jexec
atieventsd
libvirtd
certmonger
libvirt-guests
local
nxsensor
nxserver
webmin
As soon as I allow webmin to pass, system freezes. BUT, if I stop

CentOS 8 apcupsd or nut and duplicity
Hello Again,
Is there any update on nut or apcupsd for CentOS 8?
Also, I noticed that duplicity is not currently available for CentOS
8. I got the Fedora 30 SRPM for duplicity to build on CentOS, but ran
into a dependency issue and cannot find python-devel. Any suggestions
on alternatives or how to get duplicity going on CentOS 8?
Cheers,
Ian P.

With the new initiative CentOS and Fedora Stream, wouldn't it be easier
collaborate with Fedora SIGs to bring an updated version of Mate to
CentOS

Centos 8 & AMD hardware?
Putting together a system build, AMD based.
Ryzen 5 CPU on X570 chipset with Radeon RX480
GPU.
Guessing this will be supported by Centos OK?
(Unless you know different! :-) )
https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/radeon-400-series/radeon-rx-400-series/radeon-rx-480
Shows driver support.
Does Centos repo's hold these drivers or do I download after
the install please?

Help with VMware ESXi manager for CentOS - newbie level
Hi.
On my new job we use VMware ESXi (Free version), but my colleagues use
Windows on their PC's. I am allowed to use CentOS Linux, but I have no
prior experience with WMVare.
I now (today) have to install CentOS 6.x minimal on that ESXi server, so
I am trying to wrap my head around whole ecosystem.
What should I install on my CentOS 6.x so I can access/manage ESXi

Slow login to system without internet connection
Hi.
For a long time I am puzzled why, when internet connection is gone
(beyond first router, outside of subnet) SSH (and telnet?) connection is
drastically slowed.
Same behavior, but less impacted is observed when system boots without
working internet connection, and I am not sure, but I think even access
to SAMBA fileshares can be/is affected. Affected systems are mostly

Multitab GUI SSH clilent found
Hi.
I just wanted to notify all that I found very nice GUI SSH client at
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pacmanager/
It has rpm packages and works very nice. Multi-tab, Expact support,
connections tree, connection , user and password saving (I know they
should not be saved).
Only manual download as far as I know, no repository caries it.

Is it a way to upgrade CentOS 7 to 8?
Hi,
I?m looking for a method to upgrade my centos 7 servers to 8 and I don?t find anything to do that!
I?m a very newbie with CentOS? My choices where gone to Debian or Ubuntu and it was very simple. Just some files must be changed (/etc/apt/source.list). My search suggest a RELH subscription. Is it the only way?
Best regards

There is no CentOS "family". CentOS clone is dead and will be now
replaced with no-cost RHEL, so in market share (over time) CentOS will
be replaced with RHEL.
CentOS Stream will be used solely by developers and and entities like
Facebook (as a base for their own in house solution).

MySQL Can't create file '/tmp/#sql2e0_98_0.frm' (errno: 9) problem
Hi.
I have a strange problem.
I installed cacti, and set it up.
When I click on the Plugins Management, I noticed Error

Further testing revealed that at the moment MySQL can not create
temporary files in /tmp. It is same for ANY database!
SELinux is disabled.
I logged to mysql as root and error is same.
Command used is:

Samba, Kerberos, Autofs: Shares get disconnected
Hi,
I am still trying to figure out the best settings for Samba and Kerberos
with autofs.
My setup so far works good, users can log in on their computers using AD
credentials, and they can access network shares with AD credentials as
well. This works perfect.
Also I notice that some Kerberos ticket is created upon user login, which
allows the users to access a Samba share without entering the
