cloud-init in CentOS 6.3 images
Good evening, all. I just tried spinning up a CentOS instance in EC2 using ami-de5bd2ee from the AWS marketplace. I put a dummy script into the user-data field when launching the instance from the EC2 console but found it didn't work, even though the SSH key for the root user did. I pinged Karanbir on ##aws and he suggested I post here to get the conversation started.
I'm currently

Hi,
There is a difference between the help of lvresize and its man page.
In the manpage, there is nothing about the -r or --resizefs function.

How long should resize2fs take?
Hullo!
First mail, sorry if this is the wrong place for this kind of
question. I realise this is a "piece of string" type question.
tl;dr version: I have a resizefs shrinking an ext4 filesystem from
~4TB to ~3TB and it's been running for ~2 days. Is this normal?
Strace shows lots of:-
lseek(3, 42978250752, SEEK_SET) = 42978250752

Package lists for Cloud images
hi Guys,
As we get ready to start publishing Cloud Images ( or rather images
consumable in various virt platforms, including public and private
clouds ) - it would be great to have a baseline package manifest worked
out.
What / how many images should we build. At this time we were thinking of
doing :
- CentOS-5 32bit minimal
- CentOS-6 32bit minimal
- CentOS-5 64bit minimal
- CentOS-6 64bit

Cloud Images
Any chance of a refresh of the cloud image (http://buildlogs.centos.org/centos/7/cloud/) and including cloud-init and the repos ?
With this, we can start asking our end users to give CentOS 7 a spin on the cloud..
Thanks
Tim

Machine-readble cloud-image list
Hi there, I would like to write a script to download the CentOS
generic cloud images with the intention of making them eventually
available to oVirt users via the oVirt public Glance repository.
For that purpose I need to:
1. list the CentOS generic cloud images
2. list mirrors from where I could potentially download those images
I could try to parse the HTML here [1], but I'd rather just

Latest CentOS-7 image on cloud.centos.org has incorrect checksum
Good day,
I initially posted this issue on CentOS-mirror a week ago but did not
receive any response.
I'm looking for a resolution to a small issue with the cloud image
repository for the latest CentOS-7 image.
As far as I understand, the latest release of the CentOS-7 image should
always be posted to http://cloud.centos.org/centos/7/images/CentOS-7-x86_

centos 6' repositories against redhat 6 upstream
Hi
?Wonder how's the relationship between the centos 6's main OS/ repository and redhat 6's repositories. Let's say, Redhat 6 seperate RPMs into a series of repos like:
? ?redhat-6-server ?##(base redhat 6 OS/)
? ?redhat-6-server-optional
? ?redhat-6-server-supplementary
? ?redhat-6-server-rhev-agent
? ?rhel-6-server-cf-tools
? ?...
Does centos 6 merge all the redhat 6 repos

CentOS 7 AMI Building
Yes... we currently use Packer to achieve a repeatable build process, from
scratch. We'd like to replicate that and be able to build from scratch
without spinning up an EC2 instance, in an automated way.
I don't know how to phrase this, so apologies if it comes across wrong, I
have immense respect for you personally and for CentOS... but, is it really
that difficult to post the kickstarts

Resizing est4 filesystem while mounted
Greetings -
I had a logical volume that was running out of space on a virtual machine.
I successfully expanded the LV using lvextend, and lvdisplay shows that it
has been expanded. Then I went to expand the filesystem to fill the new
space (# resize2fs -p /dev/vde1) and I get the results that the filesystem
is already xx blocks long, nothing to do. If I do a # df -h, I can see that

Expanding a virtual block device
Hi list.
I''m running Xen 4.0.1 on Debian.
I''m trying to live resize a block device :
- I have a arbitrary block device in my dom0 (/dev/mapper/vm-vol42).
- I start a PV domain with that device as a disk (disk =
[''phy:/dev/mapper/vm-vol42,xvda,w'']).
- I resize vm-vol42 in the dom0 (adding size only)
- the dom0 sees the device''s new size.

SSHMenu (Gnome Applet) for CentOS 6
Hello,
I know that there exists a package for Gnome SSHMenuApplet for CentOS 5
(e.g. see
http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/epel/testing/5/ppc/gnome-applet-sshmenu-3.15-5.el5.noarch.html).
The package sshmenu (which I found here:
http://dl.marmotte.net/rpms/redhat/el6/x86_64/sshmenu-3.18-7.el6/sshmenu-3.18-7.el6.noarch.rpm)

Dual boot with Windows 8.1, UEFI
(apologies for the length - there are questions at the end...)
I've been running Linux for 20 years, and done a lot of dual-boots. I know
that's old-school now, but I run Linux 95% of the time yet don't want to
lose a Windows system I've paid for - but I've never tried removing it
from a system and reinstalling the same licenced copy inside a virtual machine.

wiki addition for AWS
My wiki name: WarrenTurkal
Page for addition: https://wiki.centos.org/Cloud/AWS
Proposed addition: I would like to add a column for the product code
for the CentOS images listed with AWS marketplace URLs. I use the
product code for "CENTOS-7 x86_64" to find the AMIs to start hosts
with that image in each region of AWS.
Thanks,

Is this right? -- Centos 6 and RHEL 6 infrastrure for continuous update/upgrade
Hi all,
Both RHEL 6 and CentOS 6 can be installed from any minor releases DVDs: 6.0, 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, etc. And then got continuous upgrade/update with command 'yum -y upgrade' if repos are setup correct.
But the repos infrastructure is different between the two. CentOS uses two repos:
??? ..../centos/6/os/... repo and .../centos/6/updates/...
The updates/ repo contains ONLY updated RPMs
