I want to make a live USB from live CD. CentOS 6.4 live CD doesn't work. Can not find root when initrd0 booting. It appears initrd0 can not find the USB harddisk - SAMSUNG MP0402H. But CentOS 5.6 live CD works fine. What can I do? CentOS LiveCD on USB
I have been following these instructions: https://www.centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=501 to put a bunch of utilities (Clonezilla, SystemRescue, CentOS netinstall/rescue, etc.) on a single USB key. It works great for everything (including Ubuntu Live) except the CentOS 6.4 LiveCD. (You can see my postings at the bottom of the forum.) When booting the LiveCD, I got: Kernel panic - not syncing:

problem booting (Fedora) LiveCD ISO over PXELINUX
This is an issue I've researched quite a bit on bug lists, and looked in the Syslinux Wiki for a way to do this, but haven't yet found a solution. 1) I have an existing Fedora 13 LiveCD which I burned to a CD and tested on a system without issue. 2) I then took that same ISO and dropped it in my pxelinux.cfg/default for being able to boot over the network. I made sure to extract the

Updated livecd building tool
I updated the livecd-tools package from version 013 to 014. This update introduces new interesting features like : - support for Xen kernel - built-in md5sum into the resulting LiveCD ISO - a new API See https://projects.centos.org/trac/livecd/wiki/GetToolset for instructions on how to get this updated toolset. Since it is a major update, I expect some bugs. I am looking for feedback from

Writable Centos LiveCD on Embeded Linux?
Hi all, I was wondering if it possible to have a Centos LiveCD installation boot from a Compact Flash in a embeded x86 (Wrap/Alix) platform *and* be able to save the changes made to the File System back to the Flash memory. So, the next time the LiveCD boots it will have all the changes made. The problem I'm trying yo solve is: - fast boot time - fast recovery when the Linux is shutdown

Utility of Centos liveCD
It appears that the liveCD (CentOS-5.2-i386-LoveCD.iso that I downloaded late last week) does not contain either netcat or tcpdump. Given the frequent use of a livecd for testing and debugging, those would seem to be key tools that should be available. Obviously a LiveCD can't contain everything anybody might ever want, but I'd give those two tools a pretty high priority; certainly much

How to rebuild the Centos 6.4 iso images with the same contents as officially released iso images ?
I have read many Centos webpages and mail archives but found only raw descriptions of the build process. My first aim is to rebuild CentOS-6.4-x86_64-LiveCD.iso using the Centos repositories and preferably without recompiling the SRPMs, just to verify the build process. My final aim is to create a Centos LiveOS contain the packages in CentOS-6.4-x86_64-minimal.iso plus some network configuration

CentOS 5 LiveCD - When?
I asked before (about 2 weeks) about this, and was told it was in testing. I wonder when it will be available. My GF is considering leaving Debian due to it not recognizing her hardware very well, and I thought a CentOS 5 LiveCD might be a reasonable way for her to see whether CentOS might do a better job. If no LiveCD is forthcoming soon, then I'll burn a copy of the CentOS 4 LiveCD and let

Hello, I just downloaded the very great CentOS LiveCD and have some issue with the sum. when I do md5sum -c md5sum.livecd they simply don't match. But when check the size file with the file size posted by johnny in the announce http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-announce/2006-May/012905.html They both match (in 717729792 bytes) Probably I am doing something wrong, just to be sure

edit-livecd
Greetings, I made a Fedora AOS livecd ISO image using fedora-aos.ks (from fedora-kickstarts-0.12.1-1.fc12.noarch) and livecd-tools-031-1.fc12.1.i686. This boots fine with qemu and directly from CD. I used the script from http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/livecd/attachments/20090922/85647312/attachment.py to edit the ISO image, and, even if I make no changes, I get the following error

[PATCH] edit-livecd in python
This is the second generation of the edit-livecd tool that replaces our original bash script with a python version and aims to reuse as much as the livecd-creator libraries as possible. The main reason for the new creator class is to avoid the need for a kisckstart file in order to edit an existing livecd image. edit-livecd is useful for people who don't have the development and yum

CentOS 4.4 LiveCD instructions
I'm upgrading my current RedHat9 installation to CentOS 4.4, so decided to buy the 4.4 LiveCD (rather than downloading and burning an ISO). I thought the LiveCD was simply a 'reduced' version and that I could install from it, but I find I don't actually know what to do with it and can't find any relatively simple instructions (I'm a bit of a newbie to linux but think

Build a LiveCD?
Hi, I have a highly customized desktop built from CentOS 5.4 and RPMForge repos (plus some stuff of my own). I'd like to build a LiveCD from that, for one very specific reason. I have a medical application (MedinTux) that would be very handy to demonstrate to doctors, hospital staff, etc. with a LiveCD. Any ideas? Niki
