Vcsrepo module use git with certificate
Has anyone tried using this puppet forge module with a certificate? (puppetlabs/vcsrepo) Any ideas on how to specify via command line to git what certificate to use? The only way that I know to tell git to use a specific certificate is to use the GIT_SSH env variable and specify a script which calls ssh -i ... $@ Silviu -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google

neatest way to determine a major version of centos/linux?
Just started a rollout of centos 6.x across our Puppet deployment (100-odd servers). what fact would people suggest I use to distinguish 5.x from 6.x (quite a lot of subsystems are different between major releases)? lsb* facts don''t seem to be present on centos 6 - is this an EPEL bug, or have they just been removed in Facter? Dynamic Environments, r10k, gitolite and Non-environment Puppet Config
Hi all, Apologies if this has been dealt with before, but I haven''t managed to find an answer yet. I have a working "dynamic environments" setup: * A gitolite repository (on a dedicated host) with multiple branches - one for each environment. * I use r10k ro deploy the environments on the master to $confdir/environments/$::environment. This all works *really* well, but I

hard reset with vcsrepo?
Is it possible to use vcsrepo to remove uncommitted changes to git repo? Essentially I am hoping that vcsrepo can keep a local repo in sync with a a remote repo and revert any modified files and delete any untracked files in the local working directory that don''t exist in the remote repo. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet

Puppet on OpenSuSE & SLES
Hi, I''m a big fan of Puppet and managed to have my company accept it. However, I''m having issues deploying it (I''m used to the debian version which works perfectly out of the box) : - There doesn''t seem to be an official repository for Suse (I''ve seen it mentionned in the bugtracker but yum.puppetlabs.com doesn''t contain SUSE packages). -

Checking GIT updates
Hello all, I''m using puppet to deploy my codebase from GIT. I have everything working, but i currently don''t have any way to check to make sure there is actually something TO deploy before it goes through the entire process of deploying the code. I want to create a conditional that only re-deploys the code if the revision actually changed. So far, I can have it as part of

web app deployment on a Debian server
Hello, I would like to ask your advice for the simplest method to do deployment on a debian server. puppet files denied by SELinux
I have no idea of the current dependency problem. I think your original problem was caused by mv'ing files from an nfs share to /etc which maintained the context. And SELinux prevented puppet from accessing nfs_t type. If you had just run restorecon on the object it would have set it back to the correct/default context. You might want to setup an alias mv "mv -Z" This changes

Starting out with puppet and capistrano
Hey guys. I am starting out with puppet and am in the process of writing a bootstrap script for the clients and a capistrano recipe for the server. I have the client bootstrap done which installs ruby, puppet, sets a host name, and then points the client at the puppet server and now I am in the process of setting up the puppet server. My first attempt was to set up a git project for puppet, an

n00b questions - verbosity of config????
Hi, I''m learning puppet as that is what they use at my current work, though that could change... Question 1: Last place of work, we wrote our own perl based system which was extremely simple and concise to drive - eg to distribute a file, we would put it in: <nfsdir>/noarch/dist/etc/syslog-ng/syslog-ng.conf/ # which means create a file /etc/syslog-ng/syslog-ng.conf on the
