LDAP/Samba issues when replacing server
I hope that someone can let me know what I have done wrong. I need to replace and existing server (server1) with a new server (server2). Server1 is currently running LDAP/Samba (3.0.14). Profiles stored in /opt/samba/profiles I installed all of the pieces, and LDAP works (mostly, I have an issue, see below) I ran net getlocalsid DOMAINNAME on server1 used the SID value in net setlocalsid

Migrate SMB/LDAP to new server
I need to migrate my current LDAP/SMB PDC to a new server. I found the information on how to replace an existing server with a new system with the same name, but in my case, I still need the existing system to continue as a slave LDAP/SMB BDC. I used slapcat to get the ldap database, and then used this ldif to create the new ldap database on the new server. Linux logins work fine. I used

Moving Samba/LDAP PDC to another server
I need to move our existing Samba/LDAP PDC to another server. Currently it is on server1 and I want server2 to be the Samba/LDAP PDC instead. However, I am uncertain of what files need to be copied over to ensure that I don't have to rejoin machines to the domain. Searching the web I found information on creating the initial PDC setup, but nothing on moving the PDC. I also have a system

Problem Joining an XP CPU to Samba Domain
Hello, I have an XP (SP2) CPU that has just been reloaded with the OS (hard drive was reformatted). The NIC works and I can access the Internet with no problem. When I join the CPU to the domain (there are many other CPUs already on this domain), it joins. After the mandatory reboot, if I try to log in using a domain account, I get an error saying the username and password are incorrect. I

Not all users listed in 'Select Users or Groups'
When I try to add users or groups in Win2K via the Security tab -- Select Users or Groups, not all users or groups are displayed. Any account created since 1 January isn't showing up. I patched the Win2K server just before this date. All accounts that were creaated prior to this date still appear. On the Linux system which is acting as the Samba PDC (and is using ldap), pdbedit -l

Question on approach to authenticate Linux against Samba4
This is in a test environment: Also, it is wordy, but I'm hoping it explains my scenario. I am migrating from a custom LDAP+Samba3 authentication solution to Samba4. I have used the classicupgrade option to pull off the data from the existing ldap server to populate the samba4 database. I've installed AD DS and Server for NIS tools on a Windows 2008 server that is connected to the Samba4

Samba pid in uninterruptible state
Greetings, I recently upgraded Samba on an Ubuntu 14.04.2 server from version 4.1.9 to 4.2.3. Upon rebooting Samba process goes into a running state then after a short time it will go into an uninterruptible state. If I check the log.samba, it appears that it is attempting to start, then hangs at the following: [2016/06/23 15:16:00.329503, 3] ../source4/param/share.c:124(share_register)

DomainDnsZones inbound replication issue
Greetings, I am having a problem with one of my DCs (DC3) replicating DomainDnsZones. On DC3 replication is successful on both Inbound and Outbound with both of my other DCs. On both of my other DCs (DC1 & DC2) I only get a failure with Inbound replication for DomainDnsZones from DC3 with a result 8442 (WERR_DS_DRA_INTERNAL_ERROR). If I try to force replication to DC3 from DC1 using

Samba PDC and XP Pro Problem. (Not signorseal - fixed that one some time ago)
Hi, This is a simple query and may well have been answered in the mailing list archives but my searching can't find an answer to my specific problem. My PDC is Samba 2.2.3 on Redhat 7.3, clients are a mix of Win 2k and XP Pro laptops. The Win 2k laptops work fine (all service packs applied) and allow any domain user to log on to any of the 2k laptops. However the XP laptops if I try logging

Samba process pegging CPU
Greetings, I'm currently experiencing an issue with two of my three Samba servers where one Samba process is pegging the CPU usage and eating up a lot of virtual and resident memory. While this is happening I get a "ERROR(runtime): DsReplicaGetInfo of type 0 failed - (-1073610723, 'NT_STATUS_RPC_PROTOCOL_ERROR')" error when I try to run the samba-tool drs showrepl command.

DomainDnsZones inbound replication issue
Here's my edited smb.conf and the output of the testparm. As you can see I'm not setting that in my smb.conf and it appears to be turned on by default in Samba 4.4.4. I was going to update Samba on DC1 to 4.4.4 as well, but haven't done that yet. It's currently on 4.2.3. Should I upgrade that as well before changing anything else? Thanks! issue with multiple Samba DC and uid/gid assignment.
I have 2 Ubuntu 12.04/samba 4 servers acting as DCs for my Domain. I provisioned the Domain by using the classicupgrade (prior authentication was LDAP+Samba). I have added some new test users. I also have two files servers. One is running RHEL 5.9/Samba 3, the other Ubuntu 12.04/Samba 4. Users that have their home directories and profiles stored on the RHEL5.9/Samba 3 fileserver work correctly.

Trouble with XP/Pro and Samba PDC
Hi all, i have some trouble with my Samba PDC and XP. The XP-Box joins the samba-domain without problems. The machine trust accounts also appear in passwd-file correctly. The problem is that i can't log in to the xp-box (domain) after i joined the domain. The error message tells me that xp can't find the domain controller or the user account. I am trying to log in with the same account as

Samba-Tool Error
Greetings, A little while ago I started receiving an error any time I tried to run a samba-tool command on my pdc. My bdc is showing inbound and outbound working just fine with the pdc. The error I am receiving is ldb: unable to stat module /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/samba/ldb : No such file or directory. Is this just as simple as creating a soft link to /usr/local/samba/lib/ldb? Any advice

wine not initializing correctly?
I installed wine using the fc5 repositories. # wine --version Wine 0.9.24 I then try to use winecfg and get: # winecfg wine: creating configuration directory '/root/.wine'... user creation with samba-tool issue

printer drivers from windows 7 MMC?
I found a fancy, easy (seeming) way to add printer drivers in windows 7 since the old methods don't seem to work anymore. if you run mmc, you can add a snapin called print management, which enables you to manage various things (drivers, forms, ports, and printers to be most important). Problem is, I can't figure out how to use the "Drivers" method to add drivers. I get a
