Win2003 DC fails to detect Samba 4 DC
I have an (apparently) valid Samba4 DC to which I have transferred all
FSMO roles in preparation for running dcpromo and demoting the Win DC.
All of the logs look good on the Samba DC and showrepl indicates no
errors. Unfortunately, the Win DC does not seem to detect the Samba DC
when I attempt to run dcpromo and it throws a nasty warning about AD
data being lost. If I run Sites and Services,

Windows 2003 AD (2003 level) Replacement
It's been well over a year since I tried doing this and, at that time,
it was not a simple install. File replication didn't seem to work, some
accounts didn't show up in the new server, and the internal DNS seemed a
bit problematic.
The goal was to decommission a 2003 AD server (2003 level) and replace
it with Samba4. Exchange 2000 exists in this domain but not much else.
I have

Win dcpromo and SysVol Replication
When I DCPROMO a Win2003 server into an existing Samba4.1RC1 domain with
two Samba DCs, all appears to be working correctly from the Samba side
but the WinDC never starts sharing SysVol as it should. "Sites and
Services" shows all DCs as expected and forcing repl with the Samba PDC
works correctly while doing that with the second Samba DC shows the

ad dc demotion fails trying to use non-existent dc as 'partner server for the4 demontion'
I'm trying to demote dc3 from msad dc service.
As the root user, I type this command:
samba-tool domain demote -Uadministrator
which fails with this error:

The problem is that dc2 was demoted some weeks ago, and is no longer running samba4.
Is there a way I can force dc3 to use a different dc as the

Samba 4.0.7 DC in Windows 2003R2 AD
Greetings,
The ultimate goal is a full implementation of Samba4/OpenChange/SOGo but
that onion has too many layers to shoot for the whole thing at once. So,
I've added a Samba/Ubuntu12.04 DC to the AD and want to get it totally
correct before proceeding with OC. I have two questions (at the moment):
First, PAM is not included on the Samba DC and I need to know if it is a
requirement. The

demoted DC's still arround
I have been replacing some "old" hardware and have demoted two DC's with
'samba-tool' as per the Samba wiki demotion page.
When running Louis' "samba-info.sh" script, that script still finds the
presence of the old, now demoted DC hostnames. Further investigation thru
RSAT (W10) found the demoted both DC's still listed under the

Demoting troublesome DC
Hello,
I am running in a duplicate test environment of my work domain.
I have 2 x 4.1 DCs and 2 x 4.7 DCs.
I have transferred FSMO role to #3 and it is replicating to #4 fine.
I have demoted #1 which appeared to go fine and have turned it off.
When I try to demote #2 it fails with the error...

after demoting a dc question
In the event demoting a DC caused an issue due to an error (yes, on the
user part) could the demoted DC be re-joined to allow correction of the
issue?
Or should one never rejoin a demoted DC?

Cleaning up old DC DNS records
Hi, I demoted a running domain controller by running the samba-tool demote
command on the running system to be demoted and there's still some DNS
entries for the old one kicking around. It's still listed under _msdcs and
also _kerberos._udp and _ldap._tcp.
Should I manually remove them? If so, is there a list of spots to look in
for DNS entries of old DCs?
Also, does the fact that

Demoted dc not completely demoted, maybe?
Replaced as instructed and ran the command. It claimed "success", however
(RSAT) DNS Manager still shows demoted DC as SOA record.
BTW, this demoted DC is now shut off.
Suggestions?

Cleanup after demoting an offline DC
Hi,
I demoted an outdated and offline DC following to:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Demoting_a_Samba_AD_DC
Everthing appears to work well but there is still one, perhaps minor,
question regarding to the dns SOA-record:
The zone _msdcs.samdom.example.com still lists the demoted server in the
SOA record.
Is it ok to manually change it to fsmo holder dc or an other dc?
Thanks in advance

Demote a samba DC and rejoin as member
Hello,
I had tried to demote a samba DC and re-join it as a member over the
weekend, but something went horribly wrong.
Starting point was a samba DC which also acted as a file server. It was
the single DC in that domain.
I first set up a Windows 2008 R2 machine and promoted it to DC within
the same domain. I then changed DNS entries on all machines to point to
the new DC, transferred the FSMO

Breeze to set up, too. To monitor and transfer to SIP/1000 / ext 1000:
1. Insert exten => 1000,hint,SIP/1000 into your default context (the context
the extension is in)
2. In the monitoring phone's web interface, click Function Keys, pick a key,
change it to Destination and type in SIP/1000. Once you submit the form it
will change to a SIP URL, that's OK.
3. There is no step 3.

Outbound Caller ID number on E1
Hi All
I am having a problem setting the outbound callerid number on a PRI E1
in South Africa. The outbound number keeps on appearing as the main PRI
number. How does it work between Asterisk and the Telko? More
importantly how do I get it working?
Kind Regards
Garth

Demoted dc not completely demoted, maybe?
I have manually removed all entries of the demoted DC with the exception of
the SOA record.
The DNS Manager (offered by RSAT) will not allow adjustment of the SOA
record.
I have begun searching for a linux solution.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
