Virt SIG roadmap
As promised, in preparation for next week's SIG meeting, here's a kick-off discussion about the Virtualization SIG roadmap. I'm mainly tossing out ideas here -- see this is an invitation to discussion. Key things I think should be on the roadmap: * Release process - General cadence - Estimate of the next release (if any) * Specification of targets - Right now, mainly xen4centos

Xen Balloon Driver on PVHVM CentOS6
Hi List, I'm trying to work out the balloon driver on CentOS6 HVM but it seems to be not working with default 2.6.32 or newer 3.4 kernel. Does balloon driver work on HVM linux guests with Linux Kernel 3.4 from centos repo ? PV is fine and is able to balloon. My host is Xen 4.1.2 with dom0 as 3.4.46-8.el6.centos.alt.x86_64 My guest is CentOS6.4 with kernel 3.4.46-8.el6.centos.alt.x86_64

What went in Linux 3.5 from Xen standpoint.
Hey, Linus released this Saturday v3.5 and there were quite a few of interesting components/fixes/features that went in! Going to go down the list of what shortlog provided: - Less MSR traps when using AMD machines - so better performance. [andre] - The APIC IPI interface works - which means that ''perf'' in the initial domain works. So no more lockups. Also with some

X taking 100 % cpu on Xen dom0
Hi, I am trying to get X to work on Xen Dom0 running a custom 3.4.10 kernel. with a Nvidia Gt220 card + 295.59 drivers.Although, the drivers get loaded and X starts, but after some time its seems to get stuck in some kind of infinite loop and starts taking up 100 % cpu. This is observed only when i boot up the machine with the Xen hypervisor, otherwise X works well with out the hypervisor being

Pages In and Read Sectors in Guest Domain
Hello. I have been doing some performance tests with Xen and CentOS and have found some strange statistics when comparing the virtual memory (/proc/vmstat) and I/O (/proc/diskstat) statistics between the Domain 0 and guests. When I look at the "pgpgin" statistic it is exactly the same as the "read sectors" in Dom0. However, when I look at the same statistics in the guest,

Free Mem
Hello, I am not sure if this is the correct Mailing list for the issue I have. I have a new system with 18GB of Physical memory on the system. I loaded CentOS 6.4. But when I boot into Dom0, I only see (xm info) 2GB of total memory? I set 1GB for Dom0, but I am not sure why the hypervisor does not see all the memory. [root at barbaro images]# xm info host :

[PATCH v3 1/2] mm/balloon_compaction: avoid duplicate page removal
From: Wei Wang <wei.w.wang at intel.com> A #GP is reported in the guest when requesting balloon inflation via virtio-balloon. The reason is that the virtio-balloon driver has removed the page from its internal page list (via balloon_page_pop), but balloon_page_enqueue_one also calls "list_del" to do the removal. This is necessary when it's used from balloon_page_enqueue_list,

[PATCH] xen/arm: Allow balooning working with 1:1 memory mapping
With the lake of iommu, dom0 must have a 1:1 memory mapping for all these guest physical address. When the ballon decides to give back a page to the kernel, this page must have the same address as previously. Otherwise, we will loose the 1:1 mapping and will break DMA-capable device. TBOOT and extlinux
Hi, I'm trying to get to the bottom of a problem using the combination of tboot (http://tboot.sf.net, trusted boot kernel for Intel TXT) and extlinux. TBOOT loads using the multiboot protocol, where the tboot "kernel" is loaded as the kernel, and the actual linux kernel and initrd are specified as modules. A working grub configuration looks something like:

[PATCH v2] txt: 2/5 - ACPI Generic Address Structure for tboot shutdown
New versions of tboot support ACPI GAS (Generic Address Structure) for handling sleep states. This required a change to the tboot_shared_t data structure that is not backwards compatible. This patch requires that new version makes use of GAS when invoking tboot on shutdown. Signed-off-by: Shane Wang <shane.wang@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Joseph Cihula <joseph.cihula@intel.com> diff

problems with understanding of the memory parameters in the xml file
Hi guys, despite reading hours and hours in the internet i'm still struggling with "memory", "currentmemory" and "maxMemory". Maybe you can help me to sort it out. My idea is that a guest has an initial value of memory (which "memory" seems to be) when booting. We have some Windows 10 guests which calculate some stuff and i would like to increase
