Urgent - I really need some help lme4 model avg Estimates
Hello all,
If someone could take a little time to help me then I would be very
grateful.
I studied piping plovers last summer. I watched each chick within a brood
for 5 minutes and recorded behaviour, habitat use and foraging rate.
There were two Sites, the first with 4 broods and the second with 3 broods.

Tidal Time Series Analysis in R
I am looking at using R to analyze time series data containing a tidal
component. I need to remove the tidal signal to extract the time
series of the phenomena I seek to study. A browse of R-project search
engines has not been too fruitful? I've found 'hoa' and 'Rwave', but
need further help getting started. THANKS.

P values for vglm(zibinomial) function in VGAM
Hi ,
I know this question has been asked twice in the past but to my knowldege,
it still hasn't been solved.
I am doing a zero inflated binomial model using the VGAM package, I need to
obtain p values for my Tvalues in the vglm output. code is as follows
> mod2=vglm(dmat~Season+Diel+Tidal.phase+Tidal.cycle,zibinomial, data=mp1)

Plotting tidal speed and direction in R
Hi,
I have had a look around the forums and I can't seem to find anything that
works with my data. I have lats, longs, time, tidal speed and direction and
need to plot this in an xy plot to determine changes over time. contour and
cloud have been recommended to me as a way to do this but I can't figure out
how to get 5 dimensions into this. I want lat and long as my x and y, time

two lmer questions - formula with related variables and output interpretation
Hello,
I have been attempting to set up a lme and have looked at numerous posts
including 'R's lmer cheat-sheet' as well as reading a number of papers and
other resources including R help, but I am still a little confused on how to
write my model (I thought I had it).
I have asked a number of questions on different forums; most of which have
been resolved.
My main concern right now

Times series adjustment
Dear all,
I want make correction depth of a bathymetric data set.
To do so, I have the depth data set sample every second (a depth at each
second) in one hand, and in the other hand, I have a tide variation
level data set sample every 250 ms. The time register in each data sets
(tide and bathymetric) is express in seconds followinf this format :
hh:mm:ss.ss
I would like to rectify the depth

how to make read-only data frames?
QUESTION: is there a way to make objects (e.g. data frames) read-only?
BACKGROUND: I am writing some functions that use a data frame (frequencies
of tidal constituents) that I want to be read-only. I can see how to
accomplish this within a single function (just define the data in the
function), but I'm not sure how to share read-only values between
(un-nested) functions. Is there a more

RCMD for Windows
Trying to use rcmd in our Windows environment to launch tasks on remote
servers. We are using the job scheduler from Tidal corporation. The
problem is the return code that's coming back to the job
scheduler,Tidal, is from the RCMD NOT from the tasks that it launched.
We need to get the return code from the task that was launched via rcmd.

post hoc testing of glmer in lme4
I have a mixed model with a binomial response, four factor variables and one
random factor.
m1=glmer(nbhf.hour~Season+Diel+Tidal.phase+Tidal.cycle+(1|POD.ID),family=binomial,data
=bl1,control=list(msVerbose=TRUE))
I have really need to try and find a post hoc test for this model and
finding the pariwise comparisons, note the dataset is unbalanced. I had read
many questions on this and there

Calculate the difference using ave
Dear R users,
It may be very simple but it is being difficult for me.
I'd like to calculate the difference in percent between to measures.
My data looks like this:
set.seed(123)
df1 <- data.frame(measure = rep(c("A1", "A2", "A3"), each=3),
water = sample(c(100:200), 9),
tide = sample(c(-10:+10), 9))
df1

Polar graph of time and tide
I have been trying to visualize times of lowest tides, month by month.
I have tide predictions with times either in unix time or a text
format, and heights in feet or meters. I had been able to derive the
clock times of each prediction. I would now like to graph this data
with points showing heights as "r" and times as "theta", from 0000 to
2355. There is a seasonal

You should be able to use that header information to create the
correct parameters to the read_fwf function to read in the data.

low pass filter analysis in R
Hello R users,
I am trying to use R to do the low pass filter analysis for the tidal data.
I am a novice in R and so far been doing only simple stuffs on R. I found a
package called signal but couldn't find the proper tutorial for the low
pass filter.
Could anyone point me to the proper tutorial or starting point on how to do
low pass filter analysis in R ?
Thank you so much.

Cases as Variables in Principal Component Analysis?
Dear R users,
I have a data set of 25 cases with 150-160 explanatory variables(the
number of which depends on what I choose from 200 odd digitalized spectrum
strength numbers) and one dependent variable(a sensory test result). My
natural choice is to work on a principal component analysis using the
explanatory variables, thus enabling to characterize and describe the
data space, and make a

dealing with a messy dataset
dear Jim,
Yes I fixed the problem. Thanks again all of you for your contribution!
This worked :
start <- c(1, 20, 35, 41, 44, 48, 53, 59, 64, 70, 76, 78, 83, 88,
+ 93, 114, 122, 127)
data1<-read_fwf("lvg_table2.txt",skip=70, fwf_widths(diff(start)))
Well now I know how to deal with fixed-width files :)
Cheers

Simple:: usage of stem() and hist()?
I must apologize in advance for asking a simple question. I am sure that a clue will be sufficient to get this show on the road. I am trying to graph tide prediction data in various ways. I haven't been able to answer this question after pouring over TFM.
I read the datafile
theight <- read.table("tides",header=TRUE)
I do get a summary() or fivenum()
