Sweave: printing an underscore in the output from an R command
I am working with Sweave and would like to print out into my latex document the result of the R command
version$platform
So what I first tried in my .Rnw document was \Sexpr{print(version$platform)}.
However, the output from this command is the string "x86_64-apple-darwin10.8.0" (without the quotes). This contains an underscore, which is a special character in tex and so I get an error

Setting inline hook to a function identical to default in knitr turns of exponential formatting
Hello List,
while dealing with a questin of 'xiaodao' (
http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/Problem-with-large-small-numbers-in-knitr-tp4653986.html)
I noticed that copying the default inline hook function obtained by
knit_hooks$get("inline")
into a knit_hook$set(inline = <...>) call turns off exponential
fomatting in the resulting .tex file.
I used a stripped version of

Scripting call to R-Studio compile PDF
Hey everyone,
I have several RStudio (.rnw) files that I am using a script to assemble
into a composite document. For this purpose, it would be helpful if the
script could automatcially make a call to whatever is called when a user
opens up one of these files and manually clicks "Compile PDF". Basically,
this would allow me to refresh all of the reports before assimilating their

Rename output file in Swaeve and Tex
HI,
I am working on R and Latex.
R CMD Sweave Test.Rnw (this generates Rnw.Tex file )
R CMD pdflatex Test.tex (It generated Test.pdf)
Is there any way to change the name of of output file (Test.pdf). I want it
to pass the output file name as parameter.
R CMD Sweave Test.Rnw Output_File
R CMD pdflatex Output_File.tex
So output file name will be Output_File.pdf

pgfSweave doesn't lazyload my objects
Hi all,
I'm struggling a bit to get pgfSweave to lazyload objects when compiling
a .Rnw file for a second time. Caching works fine except that for every
run all objects get cached again and again. I've used cacheSweave which
works fine; all cached objects from code-chunks with option cache = TRUE
are lazy loaded. I've tried it on two machines ... I'm pretty sure I'm

Problem with large/small numbers in knitr
I have problems with very large numbers using knitr. In the following, my a
and b are extremely small and ssrr and ssru are extremely large. Knitr
delivers error messages. Scaling ssrr and ssru by 1000 resolved the problem:
ssrr <-ssrr/1000 ; ssru<-ssru/1000
Any clue as to how I might resolve the problem?
BTW, the same program does run in another computer. I am wondering whether

Execution halted when I use knitr and Rscript with opts_chunk
Hello all,
I wrote a bash script in Mac OS that takes my .rnw file, knit it and then
makes a .pdf. To knit my file, I'm using the command
Rscript -e "library(knitr); knit('file.rnw', encoding='utf8')"
and everything works fine. However, I don't want the ## characters in my
final document. I tested, using R prompt, the following commands
library(knitr)

SweaveParseOptions, quoted commas, and knitr vignettes
I haven't figured it out entirely, but it looks like there are a
couple of small glitches with knitr-based vignettes and
SweaveParseOptions.
I posted the tarball of a package with a knitr vignette with (as far
as I can tell) everything properly coded in the DESCRIPTION file
(VignetteBuilder: knitr, Suggests: knitr) and the vignette itself
(%\VignetteEngine{knitr::knitr}). When Windows

Depending on an R computation I would like to include an Sweave documents
in the main Sweave document.
How can I do it?
So I was thinking .... to use Latex features :
\newif\ifpaper
\ifpaper
\SweaveInput{"my1.Rnw"}
\else
\SweaveInput{"my2.Rnw"}
\fi
But how do I set paper to true or false given an \Sexpr ??
\papertrue % or
\paperfalse
Any ideas?
cheers

knitr customization
I am trying to transition from Sweave to knitr, but there are a few
things about customization of the appearence of R input and output that
I did not get yet. Maybe somebody on the list can help me.
In my Sweave presentations I used a slanted font for the R input and a
normal font for the output, both in a small font. I also indented
everything by an extra 2em. All this was achieved by the

how to label two figures in the same chunk independently with knitr
Dear R helpers,
I am using knitr to run analysis with R and edit my document with Latex. I
am wondering whether there is a way to include 2 or more pictures per chunk
and being able to refer them in the text independently and eventually
whether it is possible to give them different captions. Let me give you an
example.Rnw:
\documentclass{article}

R CMD check for the R code from vignettes
Hi,
Recently I saw a couple of cases in which the package vignettes were
somewhat complicated so that Stangle() (or knitr::purl() or other
tangling functions) can fail to produce the exact R code that is
executed by the weaving function Sweave() (or knitr::knit(), ...). For
example, this is a valid document that can pass the weaving process
but cannot generate a valid R script to be source()d:

Using Sweave to generate multiple documents
Hello,
I tried looking for a Sweave-specific list but didn't find one, nor did I find an answer via google, so will send this question to the general R list. Please feel free to point me in the right direction.
I am using Sweave and would like to have a single .Rnw document that generates 1) a summary report, 2) a full report, 3) slides for a talk. I think my material lends itself to have

knitr without R studio
Hello folks,
I`m using knitr on R studio, which make it easy to use, but a coworker of
mine would like to run it on "simple" R. So I was wondering if you know what
is the equivalent of the button "knit HTML" in RStudio in R. I tried

Sweave, beamer and alert within code chunks
Hi all,
Using Beamer, in order to highlight a piece of R code I do something
like this - note the "\structure" and "\alert" commands:
\begin{semiverbatim}
> mleOut <- \structure{dlmMLE}(Nile,
+ parm = c(0.2, 120), # initial values for optimizer
+ lower = c(1e-7, 0)) \alert<2>{# V must be positive}
> mleOut$convergence

compra?
Un saludo y muchas gracias.

Controlling R fonts through LaTeX
Dear help list
Does anybody know if it is possible to somehow tell R to let LaTeX handle
the fonts for postscript plots produced by R?
It is for a thesis and I have MANY figures. These are created by R scripts
dynamically as the document is compiled, using
the Make system. I see that I can `manually' specify the font family each
time I call the postscript device, but I am looking

Making Knitr work
Might not be the best place to ask, but i could get lucky..
I have setup an eclipse environment to write sweave files lately and wanted to switch to knitr. I could get it to work on easy files, but my earlier written sweave file fails to be knit properly.
Here is the error message:

Problemas para delimitar chunks con la fucnción spin en el paquete knitr
Muchas gracias Carlos.
Tengo las mismas versiones pero no logro separar los chunks cuando uso #+,
pero si lo logro cuando uso #". Mi script es spin("prueba.R", knit =
FALSE) y si me hace un Rmd.
#+
a = c(1,2,3)
#+
mean(a)
Ejecuto,
> spin("prueba.R", knit = FALSE)
y obtengo un prueba.Rmd
```{r }
a = c(1,2,3)
```{r }
mean(a)
```
Pero si escribo:
