[libnbd PATCH] connect: Better handling of long socket names
Copy various Unix socket handling techniques from nbdkit's nbd plugin: Silently truncating a socket name rather than issuing an error message can confuse users. No need to do an explicit memset if the compiler does it for us via an initializer. No need to use strncpy() which does wasted effort on short names, when we can use memcpy() given that we already checked length in order to detect

rsync-2.5.1 / updated syscall.c "const" patch
Operating System: OpenVMS ALPHA V7.3 Compiler: Compaq C T6.5 Compiler switches: /WARN=ENABLE=(LEVEL4, QUESTCODE) syscall.c is missing the "const" qualifiers for several of it's functions. This patch should supercede the previous patch I submitted. This was discovered while working on resovling the conflicts between signed and unsigned values. -John wb8tyw@qsl.network Personal

Local end (receiving): 3.0.2, 3.0.3pre2 Remote end (sending): 2.6.9 Under 3.0.x, rsync sometimes prints an "Invalid argument" error when moving sockets to the backup directory (--backup-dir): rsync: mknod "/backup/machine/../machine-before-4/var/run/audit_events" failed: Invalid argument (22) The problem appears to be that, at least with sockets, keep_backup() is calling

Rsync 2.5.5: FreeBSD mknod can't create FIFO's
The following patch (adapted to rsync 2.5.5 from the one posted in Dec. 2000, http://lists.samba.org/pipermail/rsync/2000-December/003349.html) is necessary to prevent rsync from failing on creating FIFOs or UNIX sockets on FreeBSD. Any chance for it to be integrated in a future release of rsync? Thomas. diff -ur work/rsync-2.5.5/config.h.in work.patch/rsync-2.5.5/config.h.in ---

issue with EGD in openssh
There are a couple of issues regarding egd support in OpenSSH. 1) SIGPIPE is not ignored for the master listener daemon. I put the signal() call early on since it needs to be before get_random_bytes() is called but it could also be placed in the EGD version of get_random_bytes(). For some reason, with prngd I am getting SIGPIPE even though the prngd processes is not dying.

getent passwd user no output, addc + dm
Hmm. /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libnss_winbind.so.2 With samba 4.5 http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=samba shows 4.5 in zesty. Did you recompile? Please post the output of : winbindd -V apt-cache policy winbind or if the 4.5. installed from source, if so, then you have a mixed setup of "source" and deb packages, and that wont work. If its from source, check for leftovers in

rsyncing fifos and sockets on FreeBSD
Hi there, I already asked the list about the problems with sockets on FreeBSD (see here: http://www.mail-archive.com/rsync@lists.samba.org/msg08121.html). asterisk.ctl limitations
Hi I wrote a small patch to netcat to work with unix domain sockets to enable me to communicate with an asterisk daemon through the unix-domain socket /var/run/asterisk/asterisk.ctl . Only then I noticed that reading the code is done very differently than a typical network protocol: it expects every command in a separate read. Basically I used the following filter to pipe commands from the
