actual argument matching does not conform to the definition (PR#13635)
The explanation is that quote() is a primitive function and that the argument matching rules do not apply to primitives. That section of the R Language definition should say that primitives are excluded; it is documented in ?.Primitive. -thomas On Thu, 2 Apr 2009 waku at idi.ntnu.no wrote: > Full_Name: Wacek Kusnierczyk > Version: 2.10.0 r48269 > OS: Ubuntu 8.04 Linux 32 bit

Merge data frame and keep unmatched
Hi, With two data sets, one complete and another one partial, I would like to merge them and keep the unmatched lines. The problem is that merge() dosen't keep the unmatched lines. Is there another function that I could use to merge the data frames. Example: completedf <- expand.grid(alpha=letters[1:3],beta=1:3) partdf <- data.frame( alpha= c('a','a','c'),

logwatch reporting
I just launched a new mailserver that is using dovecot. My previous mailserver used courier-mail. I am expecting better things with this new server, but I was use to some login information in logwatch that I am not seeing now. For example I would get: [IMAPd] Logout stats: ==================== User | Logouts | Downloaded | Mbox Size

Comment on build and INSTALL
Greetings, I have noticed two possible small glitches with build and INSTALL. First, when I run R CMD build latticeDensity, I get the following message: *excluding invalid files from 'latticeDensity' Subdirectory R contains invalid file names: R However, all the files end up in the zip file (or tar) just fine, and neither INSTALL

Behavior of --install-tests and testInstalledPackage
Hello, I'm writing a script that automates the testing of reverse dependencies of a package. I found the function testInstalledPackage in the tools package, which seems to do what I want. However, when I use it for a source package that was installed with --install-tests, I've noticed that only the actual test files (e.g. located in inst/tests) are available and run. In other words the

When are Logwatch errors really errors
Hi All, I don't know enough about when errors are *really* errors. So I google a lot to read and learn. I have a few things in my Logwatch that I want to make sure I understand 1. smartd **Unmatched Entries** Problem creating device name scan list Device /dev/sda: using '-d sat' for ATA disk behind SAT layer. Device /dev/sdb: using '-d sat' for ATA disk behind SAT layer.

Exceptional slowness with read.csv
No idea, but have you tried using ?scan to read those next 5 rows? It might give you a better idea of the pathologies that are causing problems. For example, an unmatched quote might result in some huge number of characters trying to be read into a single element of a character variable. As your previous respondent said, resolving such problems can be a challenge. Cheers, Bert On Mon, Apr 8,

.doTrace problem with eval.parent(substitute(expr)) vs. lazy evaluation of expr
Here are a couple of problems with the use of eval.parent(substitute(expr)) instead of just lazily evaluating expr in the .doTrace function used by trace. (a) In S+ I sometimes use trace() to see how long a function takes to run with a tracer expression the saves the start time and calls on.exit to report the difference between the start and end times when the trace function ends. E.g., >

QueryParser : some remarks
Hi to all, First, I would like to say a big thank you for the work which was done on my 'wish bug' to allow mapping one field to multiple prefixes (http://www.xapian.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=93). That's great! I have upgraded to 1.0.4 and I am revisiting my code, replacing the php query parser I wrote with Xapian's one. Everything works well, but I have some

NTP problems
My server is supposed to be using ntp, with nothing changed from the defaults set up by CentOS5. However, daily I see log entries like Total synchronizations 2 (hosts: 2) **Unmatched Entries** sendto(193.6.222.20) (fd=21): Invalid argument: 1 time(s) sendto(141.89.226.2) (fd=21): Invalid argument: 1 time(s) Does this mean that ntp is failing? I assume so, and if so, how do I change

firewalld default policy = allow = no affect.
Hi! I'm running CentOS 7. Looking at the default policies of various zones, I've come to realize that only the drop zone has an affect, that's because this's the only one which drops unmatched packets.

merge function
Hello, I'm clearly confused about the merge function. In the following r <- merge(x,y,all.x=T,all.y=F) my y vector has only unique values (no duplicates). So I don't understand how this can ever generate an r which is of greater length than x. I thought the default behavior was only matching rows are included, but that using all.x=T included rows with unmatched x's as well. If
