How do I force link_to/form helpers to use the superclass name in the path instead subclass?
I want my helpers to generate paths using a superclass instead of the subclasses. Assuming I have Owner and Member that both inherit from User, rails will use the current objects class name when generating paths: Let''s say current_user is a mod: <%= link_to current_user.name, current_user %> will generate "/mod/:id". I want to force it to generate

Working Compile on OS/X 10.7 (Lion)
I've been trying for sometime to get a working compile on Lion and have had little to no success in getting wine to work correctly. If I compiled wine on 10.6.x and then upgrade to Lion that will work, but a fresh new compile on Lion doesn't seem to work using X-Code 3.2.6 or X-Code 4.1. So I ask the question... Has anyone got a fresh compile of wine to work on Lion and if so what

Any mountain clustering method in R?
Dear all, I wonder which R algorithm could perform a mountain clustering in an spatial grid, in other words, having the coordinates of a map (x,y ... or even more) and then the altitude/height at each point I would like to localise the peaks of that topological surface. Which R algorithm can perform this? I see it as a clustering problem where the peak should be at the center of each cluster.

How to fit a line through the "Mountain crest", i.e., through the highest density of points - in a "loess-like" fashion.
Hi, I'm trying to normalize data by fitting a line through the highest density of points (in a 2D plot). In other words, if you visualize the data as a density plot, the fit I'm trying to achieve is the line that goes through the "crest" of the mountain. This is similar yet different to what LOESS does. I've been using loess before, but it does not exactly that as it takes

OS X LION issue with Samba printing
A user who upgraded to OS X Lion could no longer add the Samba hosted printers to his system. In this account the user logon rights are limited by workstation. Checking the Samba logs showed that OS X Lion was sending "workstation" as the NetBIOS name instead of the configured NetBIOS name (same as hostname). The configured hostname is clearly sent to the DHCP server. Once I allowed that
