Odd problem with updates to the recent CR
We started updating via CR over a week ago, before 6.7 was official, and just today identified an issue.... For (alleged) security, the agency I work as a contractor for runs SiteMinder, from CA. #insert rant_against_CA.h Anyway, starting late last week, we found issues - as in, its process, which runs under, and is started by, apache, was suddenly pegging a CPU or so. Trying to stop httpd, that

Yum cannot download from local repository
I have set up a local filesystem repo thus: # cat /etc/yum.repos.d/LocalFiles.repo # LocalFiles.repo # # This repo is used with rpms contained in a local filesystem repo # created with createrepo. You can use this repo and yum to install # items directly off the local disk. # # To use this repo with the other repos: # yum --enablerepo=localfiles yum --nogpgcheck <yum command> # # or to

mod_ssl?
I just noticed that the mod_ssl package was missing on a 5.x machine that I thought was approximately like several other that have it - and don't remember doing anything different. Is there some yum group that would install httpd without including it? -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com

Apache 2.2 itk - 404 not found
More specifically -- when you get the "not found" in the browser there should be an entry logged in the error log. E.g., tail the error log, issue a request, and see what you see. The error log entry will show the details of what is being requested and generally gives strong hints as to why it can't be found (pathing, access, etc.). If you don't get an entry in the error log that

Selinux policy for puppet
Andreas- On Thu, Apr 3, 2008 at 8:31 AM, Andreas Rogge <a.rogge@solvention.de> wrote: > Do you have SELinux enabled? When starting puppet from init.d with SELinux enabled it runs in xinitrc_t while it should (at least imo) run in unconfined_t. Running in xinitrc_t lead to *really* strange things. Everything way fixed once I deployed a policy that made puppetd run in unconfined_t. >

Fake FQDN for puppetmaster (and ca) in faked environment?
Hi there, We have a fake environment in which we test software and config before rolling it out to prod. Here, we have a fake puppetmasterd running, serving the new config under test. But we''re having trouble with certificates. It is possible to specify via config what fqdn the puppet ca should use for itself? We need this to be a different (faked) fqdn than the real name of the

calendar
Folks, My manager's asked me about something that can run on our CentOS boxes that can connect to an (bleah!) Exchange server's calendar. It doesn't look like Lightening can, and from some googling, it appears that Evolution claims to, but.... It's got to be able to set dates, etc. Can Evolution? Any other suggestions? mark

CentOS 6 Documentation
Hello all. I'm wondering when the release of version 6 documentation might be out, or if the shift is to the wiki pages for this information. When going to: *https://www.centos.org/docs/ *I don't see 6 listed. Regards, loadedmind -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

postfix and mail origin checks
hi, Whats the 'robust' way to make sure email to a specific destination is only accepted if it came over the localhost:25 or /usr/sbin/sendmail route ? anything else should get a 5xx error. Emails to other destinations should remain unaffected. Using postfix/c4. Had a look around, and header_checks might be one way to go. -- Karanbir Singh : http://www.karan.org/ : 2522219 at icq

Apache httpd-2.2.15 updates
Hello, I am working on a CentOS Linux 2.6.32-71.el6.x86_64 system. I noticed that the system came with httpd-2.2.15-6 installed. After I run 'yum update' I get httpd-2.2.15-9. I did some research on the Internet, but can't find the following information: are most of the security fixes that appear in httpd-2.2.21 applied to the update on httpd-2.2.15-9? There was a security fix just

kmod-nvidia?
I just went to install kmod-nvidia on a 64-bit CentOS 6.2 system... and enabling elrepo, yum can't find it. There's a page for it, but that was last updated last year, and there are also references to packages for older Nvidia cards, but not the current. What do I not know? mark

potsfix keeping mail in queue on delivery error
Hello, Our mail server is running CentOS 5.3. I configured postfix with maildrop as the MDA. I had to deal with a strange issue : a user sent an email to an alias, which resolves into several internal addresses. One of these addresses had its mbox filled up (reached the mailbox_size_limit); so maildrop reported a 0x19 error code to postfix, who kept the mail in its queue, and repeatedly resent

samba3x PDC and Win XP
I am at my wits end on this one. Ever since I upgraded to samba3x (present version 3.5.10-0.110.el5_8) in preparation for adding a Win 7 client, my WinXP client can no longer find their roaming profiles nor can they assign their home shares to a drive at login. Logins and authentication work just fine and I can see the home and profile shares from the Win XP client after login. My smb.conf
