Cannot authenticate new ldap users (unless they are in /etc/passwd too)
Hi,
I migrated a PDC to use an ldap backend and am having fun with a few last
issues..
Existing user accounts and machine accounts were migrated, and existing
users can authenticate.
Now I've added some new users and none of them can authenticate.
e.g. for the user "inktec".
The user can login via SSH, but not mount a share:
smbclient \\\\server3\\someshare -U=inktec mypassword

Restore a node in a replicating Gluster setup after data loss
Hi
We have a Replica 2 + Arbiter Gluster setup with 3 nodes Server1,
Server2 and Server3 where Server3 is the Arbiter node. There are several
Gluster volumes ontop of that setup. They all look a bit like this:

Number of Bricks: 1 x (2 + 1) = 3
[...]
Bricks:
Brick1: Server1:/var/data/lv-vm-01
Brick2: Server2:/var/data/lv-vm-01

Samba AD - two servers - backup and restore AD procedure
Hi All!
I would be grateful for clarification of my doubts about backups and
restoration of the AD environment.
What is the best strategy for backing up and restoring a Samba AD domain in
the following scenarios:
* server1 - active directory service (7 FSMO roles)
* server2 - active directory service + Samba file server
The considered disaster recovery scenarios are:
- Corruption of the AD

How to trigger a resync of a newly replaced empty brick in replicate config ?
Hi,
I simplified the config in my first email, but I actually have 2x4 servers in replicate-distribute with each 4 bricks for 6 of them and 2 bricks for the remaining 2. Full healing will just take ages... for a just single brick to resync !

Syncing to multiple servers
Helle everyone,
Let's say we have 3 servers, 2 of them have the latest (stable) version
of rsyncd running (2.6.9)
<Server1> ==> I N T E R N E T ==> <Server2 (rsyncd running)> ==> LAN
==> <Server3 (rsyncd running)>
Suppose I want to send a big file (bigfile.big) from Server1 to both
Server2 and Server3. It would be a good idea to send first from Server1

Add an arbiter when have multiple bricks at same server.
Right now you have 3 "sets" of replica 2 on 2 hosts. In your case you don't need so much space for arbiters (10-15GB with 95 maxpct is enough for each "set") and you need a 3rd system or when the node that holds the data brick + arbiter brick fails (2 node scenario) - that "set" will be unavailable.
If you do have a 3rd host, I think the command would be:gluster

DNS management error accessing the domain zone
Hi everyone,
We have an Active Directory environment with a WS 2008 R2 functional
level. There are two Windows Server 2012 R2 systems, we started the
task of migrating these servers to Samba and we've added a Samba
domain controller (Version 4.19.5) under Ubuntu 24.04.
So we have:
SERVER1 (IP 172.30.16.10): Windows Server 2012 R2 Domain Controller
SERVER2 (IP 172.30.16.11): Windows Server

Self-heal's behavior: problem on "replace" -- it leaves garbage.
Hi.
I'm using GlusterFS v1.3.12 (glusterfs-1.3.12.tar.gz) via FUSE (fuse-2.7.3glfs10.tar.gz) on CentOS 5.2 x86_64 (Linux kernel 2.6.18-92.el5) now.
The nodes are HP Proliant DL360 G5 (as GlusterFS Client) and DL180 G5 (as GlusterFS Servers).
And the connections are all TCP/IP on Gigabit ethernet.
Then, I tested self-heal and I found a technical problem about "replace" -- self-heal

Add an arbiter when have multiple bricks at same server.
Ok.
I have a 3rd host with Debian 12 installed and Gluster v11. The name of the
host is arbiter!
I already add this host into the pool:

Replication -- multiple users, three or more servers?
I'm running Dovecot 2.2.1 on an Ubuntu 12.04.2 server, with half a dozen
accounts for various family members. I want to set up replication
involving at least three Ubuntu servers, with different users replicated
on different sets of servers.
For example, I might have mail for "user1" replicated on "server1",
