Thanks Joseph. I am aware of this option, but it would be only a last
resort, because checking the format of the config file is error-prone.
I would prefer RPM to tell me the old and new version numbers,

Trigger after yum update
Hello,
we have installed non-repository based software on our centos servers (e.g. vmware tools).
Each time we do 'yum update' we have to run several scripts to check if these software
works after update.
Sometimes we forget ...
It it possible to configure any sort of triggers which will
run automatically after 'yum update' ?
I'd like to avoid writing shell wrappers for yum

Well normal convention would be if you replace then the old one
gets appended with .rpmsave, if you are not replacing then the new
one gets appended

what updates /etc/localtime?
I see in CentOS 7 that /etc/localtime is a symlink (which seems
sensible...) but in earlier versions it is a copy of some file from
under /usr/share/zoneinfo.
rpm -q --scripts tzdata
does not show any postinstall script, so in the non-symlink versions,
how does the copied /etc/localtime file get updated with new zone
data?

Xen/Virtualization sessions at KS/OLS
Folks,
Regarding the Virtualization BoF, Ted Tso clarified
that the remaining BoF sessons would just be scheduled
on paper at OLS. We only need to use a scheduled BoF
slot if we want to use a room there, I guess, else we
can schedule at any free time and use a corridor or pub.
Available BoF slots are only Friday evening, note. Since
I don't believe the Xen team is available Friday evening,
