SpamAssassin under CentOS-6.4
I wonder if anyone is actually running SpamAssassin with Postfix/Amavisd-new under CentOS-6.4 . I have followed the instructions in <http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Amavisd> but as far as I can see SpamAssassin is not working. I should say that I do not understand from this document what is meant to happen to spam. I understand that a Spam header is added, but what actually happens to email

postfix + amavisd-new
I've been following the instrunctions in <http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Amavisd> for installing Amavisd, Clamav and SpamAssassin on top of postfix/dovecot . Dovecot is working fine, but I want to deal with spam email. (I am using sendmail/dovecot with procmail and spamassassin on another server, but decided to go over to postfix on this server when I saw it is now the CentOS default.)

postfix-dovecot via lmtp
I've been trying for some days to get postfix + dovecot + pigeonhole/sieve working on a CentOS-7 home server. I think I may have detected the problem; I read in /var/log/maillog Aug 4 11:29:13 alfred postfix/lmtp[14871]: 9C04C220A99: to=<tim at localhost.gayleard.eu>, orig_to=<tim at localhost>, relay=alfred.gayleard.eu[private/dovecot-lmtp], delay=971,

Amavisd Howto
Hello CentOS Docs People! I recently used the Amavisd howto to setup a couple of mailservers, which saved me from hours of searching online and reading novels of documentation. Since Ned is taking a little break from the Amavisd page, I would like to help contribute. There were a few things I'd like to add, like GTUBE/EICAR testing and SELinux config lines. My wiki username is WilliamFong.

Story of an email
I'm running postfix + dovecot on my CentOS server, together with amavisd, clamd and spamassassin, following the instructions in <http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/postfix>. As far as I can see it is all working, but I must admit I'm not clear exactly what path an incoming email travels along. I asked this question before, and someone suggested a document I should read, but unfortunately

Problem updating ddclient
when I ran "sudo yum update" on my CentOS-7.2.1511 today, ddclient was updated to ddclient-3.8.3-1.el7.noarch (from 3.7.3), and ddclient.conf was moved to ddclient.conf.rpmsave . When I move it back, "sudo systemctl restart ddclient" fails with the error (in "sudo journalctl -xe | grep ddclient") Apr 21 13:05:39 alfred.gayleard.eu.localdomain touch[8590]:

Setting up dovecot under CentOS-6.4
I want to set up dovecot on a CentOS server. I did this before, some time ago, but it seems to have become much more complicated, involving postfix, amavisd-new and clamav (for spamassassin). What puzzles me is the role, if any, of procmail and .procmailrc in this new system. Is procmail no longer used/needed? -- Timothy Murphy e-mail: gayleard /at/ eircom.net tel: +353-86-2336090,

Postfix + dovecot setup
I'm trying to clarify the various ways in which I could set up Postfix + Dovecot + SpamAssassin under CentOS-7, and I'd welcome any comments on the following remarks. As far as I can see there are 3 standard ways of setting this up: 1. Use amavisd 2. Use dovecot + pigeonhole/sieve 3. Use spamass-milter At present I'm following (2), but am thinking of going over to (1), since

CentOS-7 amavisd
Is anyone running amavisd and clamd under CentOS-7? Amavisd-new seems difficult to install, and clamd is difficult to find. (I've only added the epel repository, as I had a conflict when I added rpmforge as well.) I take it amavis is still the recommended way to run postfix? -- Timothy Murphy e-mail: gayleard /at/ eircom.net School of Mathematics, Trinity College, Dublin 2, Ireland

amavisd-new, spamassassin and clamav
Hi List, I've been working on documenting an amavisd-new, spamassassin and clamav installation for postfix on CentOS5 with regards to writing this up for the Wiki (with invaluable help from forum member WhatsHisName - thanks!). I hope to make a start on a Wiki page in the next week or so, so if anyone has any experience with this combo and would like to offer advice, tips and

Problem with dovecot on home LAN
At present I get email directly on my laptop in /var/spool/mail/* through uucp. I'd like to get the email in the same directory on my desktop (alfred), and then run a mail server on the destop and collect the email on my laptop (william) (or on other computers on my two little home LANs, ethernet and WiFi). I was advised that dovecot was a good imap server for this purpose (I tried

spamassassin, postfix with dovecot lda?
Hi all, I am trying to setup a mail server using postfix (virtual_mailboxes), spamassassin and dovecot, along with SQL where appropriate. From my research so far I realized that, for several reasons, it is required for me to use dovecot LDA instead of maildrop, local, procmail or other alternatives. My configuration was working flawlessly, until spamassassin per-user configuration came to

Spamassassin: last step
I'm running CentOS-7 on my home server, and have setup postfix + dovecot + spamassassin. Everything seems to be working fine, except that while spam is being marked as ***Spam***, it is ending up in ~/Maildir/cur/ . I'd like to divert it to ~/Maildir/.Spam/ (where I can examine it with sa-learn). What is the simplest way to do this? -- Timothy Murphy gayleard /at/ eircom.net School
