TDM400P takes too long to ring
Hey all,
I have a setup with two analog lines coming into and Asterisk 13 box with a TDM400P and it takes a lot of rings before asterisk takes over. I've traced this same box on two different analog providers so it probably isn't a problem with them.
I DO have callerid enabled and not sure I can turn it off (if they will let me). Any other ideas of making it ring through faster?

Dial and start music on hold after timeout
How about:
exten => s,1,Dial(SIP/alice&LOCAL/555 at delayed-announce,40)
[delayed-announce]
exten => 555,1,Wait(20)
same => n,Playback(myannouncement,noanswer)
same => n,NoOP(Whatever else you want to do goes here)
The 'noanswer' option on the Playback means that SIP/alice should continue
to ring for the remaining 20 of the 40 seconds, as the Playback will not
answer

OT: Question on Caller ID (Spoofing calls with Asterisk)
I got a call from an overseas call center telling me about the
problems with the Windows machine I was using. They wanted to remote
in and fix things for me ... (Ignore the fact I use a MacBook Pro or
an ASUS laptop with Debian).
What I found curious was the caller's name was Asterisk, and the
caller's number was Asterisk at 10 or or Astrk at 10 similar. (I don't
recall the exact

Understanding the right way to get started with multiple trunks/extensions
Background: I dabbled with asterisk years ago, and more recently have
more-or-less functioning IncrediblePBX systems for experimenting, but
I want to understand more so I'm now working with distro packages
(Ubuntu) and hand edited configurations files.
I have three SIP "trunks", each providing me with a UK telephone
number. They are for my home (1), my wife's home-based

Help With Physical Layer
Hello users,
I have a Digium Te235 and asterisk 13 which have worked well with 1
carrier but we have failed to add a 2nd carrier. The second telco brings
their E1 line over finer, terminated in a RAD modem and they give me
ethernet to the E1 card. It's the first time i am having install such a
solution, which ideally would be not a big problem.
However, The physical layer has failed to

Dial and start music on hold after timeout
Thank you for the idea. The problem with RetryDial, is that it will
cancel the first call, play the announce and then dial the SIP peer once
again, so the telephone will display a missed call. I would prefer to do
everything in a single call.

T.38 "client" for Linux?
I am looking for a simple way to send occasional faxes via the FXO
port on my SPA3102 -- without having to connect a fax modem to an
ATA. In an ideal world, this would be some sort of "softfax" that
runs on my Linux desktop and talks (via Asterisk) to the SPA3102 with
T.38.
This is one of those things that I thought would be relatively
straightforward, but a couple of hours of Googling

Lockups with kernel-2.6.32-358.0.1.el6.i686
I updated my home server with the 6.4 CR packages, and I've experienced
3 or 4 hard lockups since. The server is a fanless VIA C7
"CentaurHauls" system with a 1GHz CPU underclocked to 800MHz and 1GB of
RAM. It has a dual-port Intel 82546GB NIC in its single PCI slot. (It
also has an on-board Realtek RTL-8110SC/8169SC NIC that is plugged in,
but doesn't currently have an IP

Grub legacy on Centos 7
Hello Everyone,
We have centos6 server. And we are planning to upgrade it to Centos7.And
GRUB 2 needs a new bios grub partition. Creating a new partition is too
much risky. I am wondering if it is possible to replace Grub2 with Grub
legacy on Centos7 machine?
Thanks!!

Make discard='unmap' the default?
Is it possible to make discard='unmap' the default for virtio-scsi
disks? (Related, is it possible to make virtio-scsi the default disk
type, rather than virtio-blk?)
Thanks!

MIPS emulation broken - No PCI buses available
I am trying to create a QEMU MIPS guest, so that I can test some code
for big-endian safety.
Every attempt to create a MIPS guest is giving me an error:
Unable to complete install: 'XML error: No PCI buses available'
It seems like this is a known issue.

However, I am still getting this on a fully updated Fedora

How to disable i915 module
I am setting up CentOS 7 on my new firewall. This will run as a head-
less system, accessed via a serial console when necessary. It's only a
2GB system, so I don't see any reason to have the GPU consuming any of
the RAM.
I've blacklisted the i915, drm, and drm_kms_helper modules and rebuilt
the initramfs, but the i915 module is still being loaded.
Anyone know what might be loading

I did try that, but I wasn't able to get past errors about the
machine type not supporting IDE (or something like that). I finally
just gave up and use qemu-system-ppc directly, along
