crash when using the cp command to copy files off a striped gluster dir but not when using rsync
Hi, I've got this strange problem where a striped endpoint will crash when I try to use cp to copy files off of it but not when I use rsync to copy files off: [user at gluster5 user]$ cp -r Python-2.6.4/ ~/tmp/ cp: reading `Python-2.6.4/Lib/lib2to3/tests/data/fixers/myfixes/__init__.py': Software caused connection abort cp: closing

Using glusterfs for virtual machines with qcow2 images
Hi, we'd like to use glusterfs for Proxmox and virtual machines with qcow2 disk images. We have a three node glusterfs setup with one volume and Proxmox is attached and VMs are created, but after some time, and I think after much i/o is going on for a VM, the data inside the virtual machine gets corrupted. When I copy files from or to our glusterfs directly everything is OK, I've

Hi Chris, here is a link to the settings needed for VM storage: https://github.com/gluster/glusterfs/blob/03592930239c3b43cbbdce17607c099ae075fd6d/extras/group-virt.example#L4 You can also ask in ovirt-users for real-world settings.Test well before changing production!!! Chris: Whilst I don't know what is the issue nor the root cause of your issue with using GlusterFS with Proxmox, but I am going to guess that you might already know that Proxmox "natively" supports Ceph, which the Wikipedia article for it says that it is a distributed object storage system. Maybe that might work better with Proxmox? Hope this helps. Sorry that I wasn't able

[EXT] [Glusterusers] Using glusterfs for virtual machines with qco
We use qcow2 with libvirt based kvm on many small clusters and have found it to be exremely reliable though maybe not the fastest, though some of that is most of our storage is SATA SSDs in a software RAID1 config for each brick. What problems are you running into? You just mention 'problems' -wk On 6/1/23 8:42 AM, Christian Schoepplein wrote: > Hi, > > we'd like to use

On oVirt / Redhat Virtualization, the following Gluster volumes settings are recommended to be applied (preferably at the creation of the volume) These settings are important for data reliability, ( Note that Replica 3 or Replica 2+1 is expected ) performance.quick-read=off performance.read-ahead=off performance.io-cache=off performance.low-prio-threads=32 network.remote-dio=enable

Hi Gilberto, hi all, thanks a lot for all your answers. At first I changed both settings mentioned below and first test look good. Before changing the settings I was able to crash a new installed VM every time after a fresh installation by producing much i/o, e.g. when installing Libre Office. This always resulted in corrupt files inside the VM, but researching the qcow2 file with the

Hi, yes, I did. I get the same results with "getent passwd testuser" on each node. /etc/ctdb/nodes and /etc/ctdb/public_addresses is exactly the same on each node On each node sernet-samba/stretch,now 99:4.9.12-15 amd64 is installed Yes, I read the documentation. It is strange, that another cluster in another office configured that way is working perfect ;( The load is not as high

really large number of skipped files after a scrub
Hi, Just to follow up my first observation from this email from december: automatic scheduled scrubs that not happen. We have now upgraded glusterfs from 7.4 to 10.1, and now see that the automated scrubs ARE running now. Not sure why they didn't in 7.4, but issue solved. :-) MJ On Mon, 12 Dec 2022 at 13:38, cYuSeDfZfb cYuSeDfZfb <cyusedfzfb at gmail.com> wrote: > Hi, > > I

anaconda, kickstart, lvm over raid, logvol --grow, centos7 mystery
I am testing some kickstarts on ESXi virtual machine with pair of 16GB disks. Partitioning is lvm over raid. If i am using "logvol --grow i get "ValueError: not enough free space in volume group" Only workaround i can find is to add --maxsize=XXX where XXX is at least 640MB less than available. (10 extents or 320Mb per created logical volume) Following snippet is failing with

Blocking IO when hot tier promotion daemon runs
Hi, Can you send the volume info, and volume status output and the tier logs. And I need to know the size of the files that are being stored. Blocking IO when hot tier promotion daemon runs
Hi Tom, The volume info doesn't show the hot bricks. I think you have took the volume info output before attaching the hot tier. Can you send the volume info of the current setup where you see this issue. The logs you sent are from a later point in time. The issue is hit earlier than the logs what is available in the log. I need the logs from an earlier time. And along with the entire tier
