[PATCH RESEND 0/1] libxl: introduce an option for disabling the non-O_DIRECT
I think I posted this patch before, but it looks like it was in
December 2012 (!).
1/1 libxl: introduce an option for disabling the non-O_DIRECT workaround
Ideally it would go into 4.4, at least. Provided the corresponding
qemu part has gone into qemu-xen, which I think it has. Can anyone
confirm ?

qemu-xen-traditional: NOCACHE or CACHE_WB to open disk images for IDE
Hi list,
Recently I was debugging L2 guest slow booting issue in nested virtualization environment (both L0 and L1 hypervisors are all Xen).
To boot a L2 Linux guest (RHEL6u2), it will need to wait more than 3 minutes after grub loaded, I did some profile, and see guest is doing disk operations by int13 BIOS procedure.
Even not consider the nested case, I saw there is a bug reporting normal VM

no console when using xl toolstack xen 4.1.2
Hello!
I was asking for help on the Freenode channel, and I was pointed here.
I have a situation where, using xl, I can create a functional PV domU, with or without pv-grub, but I cannot access the console. Firing up xend and using xm works without trouble. Since xend and company is being deprecated, I would like to transition to using the xl toolstack.
The system is an Arch Linux system

LSI SAS2008 Option Rom Failure
Hi-
I am trying to pass an LSI SAS2008-based HBA (IBM M1015) through to an
HVM Solaris VM, using Xen 4.2 unstable and the qemu-traditional device

A list search yielded

however there was no solution for an HVM VM. I''ve

qemu-xen qdisk performance
Hello,
I''ve recently setup a Linux Dom0 with a 3.0.17 kernel and Xen 4.1.2,
and since the 3.x series doesn''t have blktap support I''m using qdisk
to attach raw images. I''ve been playing with small images, something
like 1GB, and everything seemed fine, speed was not fantastic but it
was ok. Today I''ve set up a bigger machine, with a 20GB raw hdd and

[PATCH 0 of 6 RESEND v2] blktap3/sring: shared ring between tapdisk and the front-end
This patch series introduces the shared ring used by the front-end to pass
request descriptors to tapdisk, as well as responses from tapdisk to the
front-end. Requests from this ring end up in tapdisk''s standard request queue.
When the tapback daemon detects that the front-end tries to connect to the
back-end, it spawns a tapdisk and tells it to connect to the shared ring. The

[PATCH nbdkit] plugins: file: More standard cache mode names
The new cache=none mode is misleading since it does not avoid usage of
the page cache. When using shared storage, we may get stale data from
the page cache. When writing, we flush after every write which is
inefficient and unneeded.
Rename the cache modes to:
- writeback - write complete when the system call returned, and the data
was copied to the page cache.
- writethrough - write completes

BUG 4.2.2: xl cd-insert corrupts xenstore state
$ git checkout RELEASE-4.2.2
$ git clean -ffdx

[However, the guest OS still sees the CD inserted]
$ xl block-list a0
Segmentation fault
$ xl cd-insert a0 hdc file:/images/xs-tools-6.0.0.iso

The problem seems to be that xl cd-eject is writing corrupt values to
xenstore. Note that vbd/1/5632 is still there

xentop reporting zero written sectors
Just moving a chunk of files from one filesysstem on xvba to another
on xvdb, and was monitoring with xentop as it was taking longer than
expected.
The VBD_RD and VBD_WR counters were both clocking-up as expected, as
was the VBD_RSECT counter, but the VBD_WSECT counter was stuck on
zero, I toggled on the individual VBD device counters and these showed
the same (with the RD and WR counters

[PATCH v4 1/2] libxl: postpone backend name resolution
This adds a backend_domname field in libxl devices that contain a
backend_domid field, allowing either a domid or a domain name to be
specified in the configuration structures. The domain name is resolved
into a domain ID in the _setdefault function when adding the device.
This change allows the backend of the block devices to be specified
(which previously required passing the libxl_ctx down

[PATCH v2] Handle xen_platform_pci=0 case
Hi,
Here is a little patch that attempt to fix the issue regarding
xen_platform_pci=0 not been handled.
There is one patch left from the previous version. The patch that was adding
qemu_machine_override have been removed as it is unnecessary. If someone wants
to change the -machine, it can always add it to device_model_args_hvm, as QEMU
appear to use the last one.
