Pruning embedded samba 3.6 installation
I'm using the Yocto Project to build an embedded distro, to which I'm adding Samba 3.6 from OpenEmbedded. Doing so increases my root file system from about 63MB to 175MB. I seem to be building a large Samba server with a small ancillary operating system tacked onto it. I listed the files in my file system image, and see that lots of the commands are quite large. I understand that Samba 4

'samba-tool dbcheck' reports only a "Bus error"
Andrew, thank you for your help! Could a "Bus error" be related to a hardware problem? Never seen it before. Anyways, here is the output of my debugging session (I hope I did everything correctly): [root at server bin]# gdb --args python /usr/local/samba/bin/samba-tool dbcheck GNU gdb (GDB) Red Hat Enterprise Linux (7.2-75.el6) Copyright (C) 2010 Free Software Foundation, Inc.

RPM building tools for Samba 4.0.3 on RHEL 6 published bye me on Github
I've been spending some time backporting Samba 4.0.3 from Fedora 19 to RHEL 6, partly as proof of concept, partly to make it available to others. I've published my work at: https://github.com/nkadel/samba4repo/ The key RPM building tools are at: https://github.com/nkadel/samba-4.0.3-srpm/ And there are dependencies listed for libtalloc, libtevent,

compiling samba for ubuntu 12.4 lts
Hi, I'm trying to create a samba4.0.1-package for ubuntu12.4. It seems as if I've succeeded to resolve the dependencies and everything is compiling and linking just fine until it switches to the source4 directory. There I always get these kerberos/heimdal-related linker-errors: default/source3/libads/kerberos_57.o: In function

compile samba 4.10.2 centos 7.6
Hi Nico, Glad to hear you're feeling better. So now we've got several builds of samba-4.10.x for centos7/rhel7: - Your 4.10.2 build (requires python36 from EPEL but is more future-proof) - Sergio's (don't know the details on those). - My modest builds (based on python2.7 and which don't require addons). As much as I agree that doing anything python2 these days in pretty much

4.2.2 as AD with 2 DCs: database incoherency
Hi all, I'm having a test AD domain composed with 2 DC, using Sernet's version of Samba 4.2.2. These two DC are Centos 6.6 (dc20) and Debian 7.8 (dc00). These two are using TDB as a backend (as we have no other choice at this stage of Samba's development). *dc20*:~# ldbsearch -H $sam '(objectclass=group)' dn | tail -3 # returned 27392 records # *27389* entries # 3 referrals
