XCP vs Xen on CentOS and Dell OpenManage
Hello,
I just tried out XCP and I was surprised to see it looks pretty much
like Xen from Citrix. Based on the RPM packages installed, I assume
XCP is based on RHEL5.
With that in mind, I have a few questions that I did not find an
answer on the web... Perhaps I didn''t look in the right places, so if
you know about any good documentations that I should read please share
it :)

[PATCH]: Add support for Intel CPUID Feature mask in Xen
Hi, all
Some Latest Intel CPU models (CPUID.1.EAX >= 0x00010674) support cupid
mask features. Cpuid feature mask is used to limit the feature flags
reported by CPUID.1.EDX:ECX.
This small patch adds CPUID feature mask support in XEN by adding boot
options in Grub entry as below example:
kernel /boot/xen.gz com1=115200,8n1 console=com1 cpuid_mask_ecx =
0xFFFF7FFF cpuid_mask_edx = 0xFFFFFFFC

Command "make prep-kernels" not cloning Linux - xen-4.1.0 sources.
Hi!
I compiled the xen-4.0.1 in Linux (Ubuntu 10.04), but as usually, the
xen-4.1.0 is not behaving in a manner similar to the previous version.
Am I required from version xen-4.1.0, transfer the kernel via the command
"git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jeremy/xen.gitlinux-2.6-xen"
from now? I mean, the "make prep-kernels" command of the
xen-4.1.0 no

GO & Protein Complex Analysis for Homo sapiens
Dear All,
I need to fetch GO ontologies for Homo sapiens with their mappings to
corresponding Uniprot identifiers. I would be using this information to
compare result from a clustering algorithm with existing protein complexes.
This would be a test to check how the clustering algorithm accurately
captures GO terms with respect to the known protein complexes. Can anyone
suggest a simple workflow

damaged encrypted LUKS device
Hi people,
i had created encrypted device with cryptsetup/LUKS which i setup with
an ext4 filesystem. This device is an external USB harddisk. When i
plugin this device it will be automatically mounted by my gnome3 system
(Debian Wheezey/Testing), but this week i got an error. I did ask the
ask the LUKS developers what is the problem and they told me that this
is an ext4 problem.

a Fujitsu RX200S6 with 2 Xeon E5645), both run CentoOS 5.6, the DELL

Mitsubishi 2033C via gamtronic (SEC)?
Hi guys,
I have a couple Mitsubishi 2033C UPSes that I badly want data from. We
used to have Mitsubishi Netcom devices which took the serial output and
provided a web interface, SNMP, and email alerts. All of those devices
died. They're really awful devices (they're clunky and have 386s in them)
and not worth the pricetag for a replacement.
The closest replacement I've seen

Slow performance - 4 hosts, 10 gigabit ethernet, Gluster 3.2.3
Hi everyone,
I am seeing slower-than-expected performance in Gluster 3.2.3 between 4
hosts with 10 gigabit eth between them all. Each host has 4x 300GB SAS 15K
drives in RAID10, 6-core Xeon E5645 @ 2.40GHz and 24GB RAM running Ubuntu
10.04 64-bit (I have also tested with Scientific Linux 6.1 and Debian
Squeeze - same results on those as well). All of the hosts mount the volume
using the FUSE

Masking CPU flags via libvirt xml not working?
Hi,
Has anyone here managed to get cpu masking working via libvirt?
Intention to enable VM migrations between hosts of a different CPU
generation.
Inside my xml I'm providing the model as well as a list of features to
specifically disable, but none of it seems to take any effect. On
booting the VM I still see the disabled flags in /proc/cpuinfo

RODBC and 64 bit
Hi all,
I was quite succesfully working with the RODB package on a 32 bit linux
box to connect to a MSSQL Server via the freeTSL driver. After changing
to a 64 bit environment I ran into some segmentation faults using
function sqlUpdate on large database operations (the actual seg faults
occured in the call to the C function ODBCUpdate).
I just briefly looked into the code and found some extensive

Can't use attributes from gml file in Cytoscape
Hello,
I am exporting a graph in "gml" format from igraph 0.5.5. When I open the
file in Cytoscape v.2.7 I can't map the color attribute that I assign to the
graph when I export it from igraph. Could anyone help me in this?
Thanks.

Strange problem with... ZFS? Disk? Controller?
Hello,
I'm running FreeBSD 9.0/amd64, pure ZFS setup, one Seagate disk
ST2000NM0011 SN02 on LSI Logic (mpt) controller.
Yes, I know that running one disk on RAID controller is a bit weird, I
have to find yet if it is possible to connect disk to internal SATA
controller.
About two days ago, system became SLOW. Disk usage is constantly 100%,
and sometimes I'm getting swap_pager:

/etc/ssl/certs/dovecot.pem erased by OpenSuse's update mechanism
Hi,
this is not a genuine Dovecot bug, more a nuisance.
It applies to OpenSuse 13.2 but maybe also to other Linux's.
The standard installation of Dovecot (especially 10-ssl.conf) places the
certificate dovecot.pem in /etc/ssl/certs.
Sometimes during updates does OpenSuse renew all certificates in /etc/ssl/certs
and erases dovecot.pem. This blocks further access to the mailbox.

How do I compute interactions with anova.mlm ?
Hi,
I wish to compute multivariate test statistics for a within-subjects repeated measures design with anova.mlm.
This works great if I only have two factors, but I don't know how to compute interactions with more than two factors.
I suspect, I have to create a new "grouping" factor and then test with this factor to get these interactions (as it is hinted in R News 2007/2),
but

FreeBSD DDoS protection
Hi,
I have a router running BGP and OSPF (bird) on FreeBSD.
Are there any best practises one can take in order to protect the network from DDoS attacks.
I know this isn't easy. But I would like to secure my network as much as possible.
Even if I'am not able to prevent or block a ddos I would like to get some info (snmp trap parhaps) regarding the attack.
Then I can contact my ISP or

trying to recover an audio CD...
I'm trying to recover data from an audio cd. it is a recording of a live
session, made on a professional cd recorder, on the fly.
apparently, instead of stopping it and fixating the disc, someone turned
off the power. oops.
I know that wodim will fixate a disk as long as it was otherwise properly
terminated (I've done it more than once), but this one it won't fixate.
