The strange case of xen_netback not returning ARP replies
Hello,
I''m facing a rather strange problem with the netback interface. My setup
involves a netvm, which has some physical network interfaces assigned,
and a client VM where a net front is running (exposed as eth0) and which
is connected to that netvm (via vif42.0 interface, as seen in the netvm
on the dumps below).
Now, the netvm has two physical network interfaces assigned:

Supermicro MBD-C2SBC-Q-O (C2SBC-Q) & Xen & VT-d
Hi All,
I checked the on-line manual for the Supermicro C2SBC-Q (Intel Q35
chipset) and it has VT-d support. Wanted to see if anyone has worked
with this particular board with Xen and VT-d before I "pull the trigger"
on purchasing it for a lab.
Thanks!

VT-d Problem with Xen
Dear Xen Developers,
I installed Qubes OS using Xen Hypevisor on my PC which contains an Intel i5
750 Processor.
In BIOS the VT-d support is enabled, but while booting my system xen
crashes.
I already tried the boot parameters iommu=pv and iommu=workaround_bios_bug,
but without any improvement.
The message xen shows when crashed is:
Panic on CPU 0
fatal page fault
error code [0000]

[PATCH] nv50_disp_chan_mthd: ensure mthd is not NULL
Hi Fr?d?ric,
It appears Ben made his own version of this patch (probably based on
the one you added to the kernel bz), and it's already upstream:

High CPU temp, suspend problem - xen 4.1.5-pre, linux 3.7.x
Hi,
I''ve still have problems with ACPI(?) on Xen. After some system startup or
resume CPU temperature goes high although all domUs (and dom0) are idle. On
"good" system startup it is about 50-55C, on "bad" - above 67C (most time
above 70C). I''ve noticed difference in C-states repored by Xen (attached
files). On "bad" startups in addition suspend

[PATCH] nv50_disp_chan_mthd: ensure mthd is not NULL
Pointer to structure array is assumed not NULL by default. It has
the consequence to raise a kernel panic when it's not the case.
Basically, running at least a RTX2080TI on Xen makes a bad mmio error
which causes having 'mthd' pointer to be NULL in 'channv50.c'. From the
code, it's assumed to be not NULL by accessing directly 'mthd->data[0]'
which is the reason

ps -ef | grep mbd reports only mbd
Again,
Following Carter's book, and after starting smbd and nmbd with " smbd -D ;
nmbd -D" I do a "ps -ef | grep mbd". Only nmbd is report with it's PID. smbd
never is reported. Jerry's book [2nd ed.] states that both should show up with
their respective PIDs.
I have searched through over one hundred pages of documentation and cannot
find the answer as to

[ns]mbd, sync'ing of disks, and hdparm
Hi,
I run a little router/firewall that also acts as a print server for
the linux and win98 clients on the LAN. I have the harddisk configured
so that if there is little activity, it spins down (hdparm -S 12
/dev/hda).
I added smbd/nmbd today and with the two services running, the hard
disk drive spins down but wakes up about every 12 minutes. Without the
services, only a major event causes them

How to prevent /var/log/samba/log.[sn]mbd creation?
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=311300
I agree with comment #48, with "syslog only = Yes" early log messages
should go to stderr. As the current behavior is by design, I ask if
there is some way to prevent these files of being created. "log file =
/dev/null" did not work (Fedora 18, Samba 4.0.0rc5).

Illegal instruction: 4 (core dumped) when running testparm & [sn]mbd with default config
I'm running FreeBSD 8 on a Sheevaplug (ARM5 processor)
I compiled and installed Samba 3.3.9 from ports using defaults and defaults
for dependencies.
I left the smb.conf file untouched, ran testparm and immediately received
the coredump.
The same happens running smbd and nmbd.
Can anyone help me resolve?

Intel 4600 Graphics (Haswell) in CentOS 6.4
Quick question that I haven't been able to find the answer to (and not for
lack of trying, believe me): Is dual-monitor display for the new Intel HD
Graphics 4600 (Haswell, e.g. Intel E3-1200v3 family processors) supported
in CentOS 6.4? In particular, I'm looking at a SuperMicro X10SAE;
SuperMicro has already replied that triple-display only works with a
VGA-HDMI-DP combo (lame) and only

Socket behavior change from 6.5 to 6.6
I will try to explain this as best I can. I have two computers; one a
Supermicro X10SAE running CentOS 6, the other a very old DOS box.[*] The DOS
box runs a CCD camera, sending images via Ethernet to the X10SAE. Thus, the
X10SAE runs a Python server on port 5700 (a socket which binds to 5700 and
listens, and then accepts a connection from the DOS box; nothing fancy).[**]
The DOS box connects to

S3 testing, etc
I had an off-list discussion with George Dunlap yesterday, who
suggested that it might be helpful to have an ability to test the S3
functionality in a bit more of an end-to-end fashion, and possibly
introduce an ability to do all of the S3 related things without
actually putting the machine to sleep.
Attached is a very simple patch to xen that introduces a command line

xen-4.1: PV domain hanging at startup, jiffies stopped
Hey,
I''m experiencing strange problem: non-deterministic PV domain hang, only
on some machines (with fast SSD drive). I''ve tried xen-4.1.0 and
xen-4.1.1 with many kernels different kernels:
VM:
- 2.6.38.3 xenlinux based on SUSE package
- vanilla 3.0.3
- vanilla 3.1 rc2
dom0:
- 2.6.38.3 xenlinux based on SUSE package
- vanilla 3.1 rc2
Result always the same: sometimes VM

Network isolation - PCI passthrough question
Hello,
I thinking about using PCI passthrough to dedicated a domU as firewall.
I understand PCI passthrough concept. When done, my domU will see
network card and the dom0 won''t any more. So I''ll be able to filter all
trafic from outside, since it will go through network domU.
Then, how will I be able to connect other domU (and maybe dom0) to the
network domU ?
In a normal way,
