tcktk problem with custom R 2.15.0 build on RHEL5
Hi all, Please bear with me because I'm not all that familiar with R. I manage a research cluster that's running Red Hat 5.6 (64-bit), and we recently installed version 2.15.0 of R for some users. Here's how we built it: ./configure --prefix=/opt/shared/R/2.15.0 --with-tcltk --with-system-zlib --with-system-bzlib --with-system-pcre --with-lapack --enable-R-shlib When we ran

apply with multiple conditions
Hello all, I have written a for loop to act on a dataframe with close to 3million rows and 6 columns and I would like to pass it to apply() to speed the process up (I let the loop run for 2 days before stopping it and it had only gone through 200,000 rows) but I am really struggling to find a way to pass the arguments. Below are the loop and the head of the dataframe I am working on. Any hints

RJDBC vs RMySQL vs ???
I am running a simple SQL SELECT statement that involvs 50k + data points using R and the RJDBC interface. I am facing very slow response times in both the RGUI and the R console. When running this SQL statement directly in a SQL client I have processing times that are a lot lot faster (which means that the SQL statement itself is not the problem). Did any of you compare RJDBC vs RMySQL or is

Testing memory limits in R??
Hello Everyone, We have recently purchased a server which has 64GB of memory running a 64bit OS and I have compiled R from source with the following config ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/R-2.9.1 --enable-Rshlib --enable-BLAS-shlib --enable-shared --with-readline --with-iconv --with-x --with-tcktk --with-aqua --with-libpng --with-jpeglib and I would like to verify that I can use

grasper installation
Hello R user, I downloaded grasper_0.3-2.tar.gz and installed it as described. $ su $ R CMD INSTALL grasper_0.3-2.tar.gz $ R that seems to work, but > grasp.GUI() doesn't work. I read the note, that graspeR need mgcv (downloaded), MASS, modreg and tcktk . I haven't found the last 3 packetages in the Suse 8.1 contrib list. Where can I find them? Or what could be the problem? thanks in

R script autoload at startup
Hello; I'm now using mainly R for windows, mainly because I'm writing a tcl/Tk interface for some people, and I've got two questions. I'm an absolute beginner with tctk or tcktk use under the R GUI. 1) Is it posible to create a shorcut that launchs the R GUI and automatically reads the "source code" of the tcl/tk script to also launch the tcltk interface? 2) Is the

Difficulties with R.oo (static fields, etc.)
I would like to use R.oo and tcltk to implement a Turtle World. I have encountered many problems because: 1) I am not sure how to implement static fields with R.oo 2) I am not sure how to implement a constructor that would call a function only for the first instance of a class (i.e., to initialize value of static fields only once) 3) I am not sure how to remove/delete cleanly existing

Floating windows in TCLTK
Dear anybody dealing with TCLTK on R I'm trying, without any success, to get a simple TCLTK window to remain floating on top of the RGui and RConsol windows when the later have focus. I cannot find reference in the TCKTK documentation and fear that I'm missing something quite fundamental. My objective is to make a simple button populated menu to invoke R functions. I wish the TCLTK menu

interactive file choosing in Linux?
I am used to using the [R] function choose.files() for interactive file selection in MS-Windows. What is the comparable function in Linux? I expected the function file.choose() to display similar behavior, i.e., a graphical interface diplaying a file listing, but all I seem to get is a "text input prompt". This does not seem correct. > file.choose() Enter file

Dear list, I've a package, myPkg, which was developed on R v 2.6.1. I have installed R v2.9.2 from source, with a shared library and tcktk support. HP-UX and IRIX recent builds? Any other rare platforms?
I am revising the section in R-admin on platforms. When I asked about locales earlier this year I got no reply about HP-UX and IRIX, so I will presume that no one has built R on those OSes recently. If you have, please send me the OS number and the flags you used. Platforms where I have seen recent reports: Linux MacOS X Solaris 8, 9, 10 (any Solaris 7 users please let me know) AIX 5.1
