Is gnome-devel-docs supposed to work with devhelp?
I just installed gnome-devel-docs with the objective of having a local copy of the gnome hig-book and now that I have it installed I don't know how to use it. I had assumed that it would show up in devhelp but it doesn't. What I have is a bunch of XML files in /usr/share/gnome/help/hig-book/C, and when I try to view one with firefox it tells me "This XML file does not appear to have

rpcclient setprinter failes
Hi List. We have an Redhat 8.0 machine who acts as an printserver. I'm sharing printers via Samba and using CUPS. Samba is 2.2.7a and CUPS 1.1.8. The Microsoft clients (Win9x, Win NT, Win 2k) is downloading the driver from the server. I had no problem to install and upload up to 55 printers but now I am not able to set the driver. PREDICTIONS from a PIECEWISE LINEAR (mixed) MODEL: THEY AIN'T LINEAR BETWEEN BREAK POINTS!!
I Dears, if that wouldn't take u too much effort I'd like to ask for a swift opinion: I have a alinear (mixed effect) model that I wish to run as a piecewise one. When I predict the values Iget quite some odds and disturbing results: The predicted stright line after the break point is not straight at all, instead behaves like if it was a hig order polynomial or something similar!!!! [fdo] Scheduling subsystems (crontab, at) and the desktop
Hi there fellow hackers, geeks and others who want the UNIX desktop to succeed. I bring forward the question whether or not a (freedesktop.org) specification is necessary for application scheduling software. The current UNIX Desktop user does not have an easy way to configure the tasks which he wants to schedule. Sure we have such a utility. And sure we can shout to our Desktop users

[ANNOUNCE] xorg-server 1.5.99.901
Ok, this is the first release candidate for X server version 1.6. At this point, I'm interested in seeing only critical bug fixes submitted on the wiki page. Sorry for the delay since 1.5.99.3, but I wanted to get the Enter Leave/FocusIn Out fixes into this release. -keith Adam Jackson (7): randr: Add [GS]etOutputPrimary randr: Mangle compat Xinerama reply based on primary

Thanks Michael. Here is my (slightly corrected) version of the script, after I''ve done a bit of investment in the dtrace manual (always knew it''s powerful, but it''s more than that...). While it appears to run, and when I tried lowering the limit I started getting results, I''d appreciate it if you could please explain the actions attached to the last few probes

Request for added functionality - tracking and blocking attacks
Somebody please forward this, if this is not an appropiate place to ask the OpenSSH developers for a new feature. As many of us have seen, any sshd left open on the internet eventually becomes the target of password guessing attacks. I am aware of tools for scanning the security logs, and manipulating iptables to block ongoing attacks, but I am not aware of a way to configure sshd itself to

problem with Windows XP file syncing
I am having problems getting a Windows XP laptop to properly "synchronize" files, aka "Make these files available off-line", to a FreeBSD samba server (2.2.7a). When the laptop user connects to the network, and starts to synchronize, the synchronization fails with "NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED". A bit of tracing through debugging output show that: * Synchronization

Headers munged into RAW_POST_DATA
Hi, we''re seeing a really weird problem in our production environment. "Connection: Keep-Alive\r\n" is being pre-pended to the RAW_POST_DATA, which makes requests error out. This bug is seen infrequently and *seems* to be browser-related, although I can''t reproduce it using the browser reported in HTTP_USER_AGENT. Set up is a apache 2.2 -> hardware load balancer
