Patching "update.packages" to enable updating of only a user defined subset of packages
Hello dear R developers, I recently found out that it is not possible to limit update.packages() to update only a few packages at a time. The patch offered simply adds a 'subset' parameter and the statement bounded within "if(!missing(subset))" to implement it. The code is pasted bellow (and also attached as an .r file). Might this patch be considered valuable to be added to

PHP5 - Query Parsing Bug
I'm replying to a very old thread (9 years ago) here http://grokbase.com/t/xapian/xapian-discuss/072tprmr6h/php5-query-parsing-bug So not sure if that's going to end up being more or less readable... I have this error : Fatal error: No matching function for overloaded 'new_Query' in /usr/share/php/xapian.php on line 2607 Line 2607 (and surrounding) looks like this and are in

Fwd: Re: RSiteSearch, sos, rdocumentation.org, ...?
Hello, All: Jonathan Baron is "giving up" maintaining the RSiteSearch database. This breaks three things: (1) The R Site Search web service that Baron has maintained. (2) The RSiteSearch function in the utils package. (3) The sos package, for which I'm the maintainer and lead author. Might someone else be willing to take these over? For me,

How to plot 2 continous variables on double y-axis with 2 factors: ggplot2, gplot, lattice, sciplot?
Hi, I have a data set with two continous variables that I want to plot MEANS (I am not intrerested in median values) on a double-y graph. I also have 2 factors. I want the factor combinations plotted in different panes. Dummy dataset: mydata <- data.frame(factor1 = factor(rep(LETTERS[1:3], each = 40)), factor2 = factor(rep(c(1:4), each = 10)), y1 =

can't install nser...
It says that nser requires the most recent version of magrittr that you do not have installed. You must update magrittr before attempting to install nser: update.packages(oldPkgs = "magrittr") or at the prompt you were presented before, choose to update magrittr before installing nser. Fixing ambiguous corrections and reattempting to submit package to R
Hello: I recently submitted a package to R using devtools:release(). I received no errors, warnings, or notes in R CMD check. However, I received two notes in devtools::release(): 1) checking CRAN incoming feasibility ... NOTE 2) checking package dependencies ... NOTE No repository set, so cyclic dependency check skipped After I submitted the package, I was told to fix two things, of which

Fwd: Re: RSiteSearch, sos, rdocumentation.org, ...?
Don't do anything yet. I may have found the problem by accident. I tried to use the computer from something else, and it was being drastically slowed down by some leftover processes, which turned out to be xlhtml. That is something that converts Excel files. Apparently, some excel files got into the libraries, and they were causing the indexing to hang completely. I am now running everything

standard errors in johansen test
Dear all, I have a question. How to get the standard errors of alpha and beta when using "ca.jo" to test cointergration? In the paper by Bernhard Pfaff and Kronberg im Taunus “VAR, SVAR and SVEC Models: Implementation Within R Package” pp.24-25. The standard errors are listed on the table 5 following the code: R> vecm.r1 <- cajorls(vecm, r = 1) I tried this in my Mac R, but

fecha primera versión de R
Muy interesante. Gracias Carlos. Estaba indagando en los orígenes, más que nada como referencia en un documento, pero dan ganas de probar la R 0.49. Creo que la primera que instalé fue R 1.2.0, en un curso que dieron en la universidad allá por el 2000. ¿y vosotros? Saludos El 13/06/13 15:12, Carlos J. Ubuntu users, The latest version of Ubuntu (12.04 LTS: Precise Pangolin) has been released. Bootstrap data frame

Please be careful with R 3.4.2 upgrades via CRAN, launchpad, ...
Corrected packages are now on the RRutter PPA ( https://launchpad.net/~marutter/+archive/ubuntu/rrutter) and soon on CRAN mirrors. If you have any issues or questions, please let me know. Cannot Install R to Trusty 14.04
Timothy, The link from stackoverflow gave some bad advice, IMO. You should be using the RRutter PPA, not RDev. RDev is the where I build not-ready-for-prime-time versions of R, and sometimes they break other things. RRutter is what is used to seed CRAN. Here is the link: https://launchpad.net/~marutter/+archive/ubuntu/rrutter I would remove the RDev PPA and install RRutter. The newest

Moving to R 3.0.0 on Ubuntu
This is a post I just added to my Ubuntu R Blog (http://www.personal.psu.edu/mar36/blogs/the_ubuntu_r_blog/2013/03/moving-to-r-300-on-ubuntu.html). As you may (or may not) be aware of, R 3.0.0 is [scheduled to be released](http://www.r-project.org/) on April 3rd. Since this is a major release and there may be some growing pains (but I hope not) in the move 3.0.0, here is some information
