CPU usage from top
I'm seeing some strange results from top on CentOS 4.0. When it first starts, it reports low CPU usage. The next refresh (and subsequent) refreshes, it shows high CPU usage. In both cases, there is nothing shown in the process list that is using much CPU. What is causing this? Here is some truncated output from a single run of "top -b -n 2":

Slow concurrent actions on the same LVM logical volume

nevada_41 and zfs disk partition
I just installed build 41 of Nevada on a SunBlade 1500 with 2GB of ram. I wanted to check out zfs since the delay of S10U2 I really could not wait any longer :) I installed it on my system and created a zpool out of an approximately 40GB disk slice. I then wanted to build a version of thunderbird that contains a local patch that we like. So I download the source tar ball. I try to untar it on the

I appear to be attacking others
It looks like my CentOS 4.2 box is attacking other people with some type of ftp attack. I got an email from somebody saying they were being attacked by my IP address. Further investigation /var/log/messages shows a whole bunch of sshd attacks on me, none of which appear successful. I'm running ethereal right now and I can see that my system is doing some kind of ftp attacks on others.

puppetmasterd continuously consuming high CPU, with many interrupts
So, I have a server at home that has four VMs running inside it. All are managed via puppet. The physical host runs puppetmasterd. I don''t recall noticing this before, but puppetmasterd has decided to be kind of crazy. Here''s the physical host with no puppetmasterd running: top - 11:36:15 up 271 days, 15:16, 1 user, load average: 5.68, 5.50, 6.45 Tasks: 129 total, 1

VM Slowness
I hope this in the right list, but I was wondering if someone could help me with a VM I have that has lately started having problems. It had been running for years without problems. It's possible an update is causing this, but I can't say. The VM is running CentOS 5.8 and after a time, the machine begins to slow down. Things like pings or running commands lag. If I reboot the VM, it runs

SMBD using nearly 100 percent CPU
Over the past few months, I have seen many postings here about runaway smbd processes with Samba versions 3.0.20 and above. Personally, it never happened to me until today. Also, I have stuck with Samba 3.0.13 on most of my machines because of THIS reported issue and a couple of other issues that I have experienced. However, I have a machine running RIGHT NOW where smbd has gone out of

Dahdi - Meetme problem on a VM
Hi, I am running Fedora 7 VM. On an earlier configuration with zaptel and Asterisk 1.4.21 , meetme worked alright. I upgraded to Dahdi and Asterisk 1.4.26, and the result is choppy sound via Meeme, while a simple Musiconhold works OK with descent audio quality. So I am sure its a Dahdi_dummy problem. Running dahdi_test gave me very poor results. Opened pseudo dahdi interface, measuring

LoadAvg , Codec and Bandwidth Utilisation
1) If I see the Loadavg more than 4 , whats the immediate solution to get it under 1 APART from restarting the server ? 2) I get too much of cross connections. Can Codec be the culprit ? I use g729. Can using GSM will solve the problem ? What could be the other reasons ? 3) Anyway to measure the bandwidth utilisation from the server ? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment

flush-btrfs-1 hangs when building openwrt
Hi, Since update to 2.6.37 I can''t build openwrt on my btrfs buildroot anymore. I''m not sure if this is related to the other flush-btrfs-1 thread. plenty of diskspace is free: /dev/mapper/cruor-build 97G 68G 27G 73% /opt/build It always hangs when openwrt builds the ext4 image and runs tune2fs on it.

Sorry for the repeat. The PRESS statistic is defined as sum(y-yhat(i))^2, where yhat(i) denotes the ith predicted value using all the data except the ith case (as used typically in linear models). What exactly did you want to compare? `ss -tp` does not appear to show cmdline/process title. I enabled it for one server, but will have to wait for users to reconnect and for the issue to reappear there. In the meantime, on another server

Upgrade 2.2.27 to 2.3.9.2: master(imap): net_connect_unix(imap) failed: Resource temporarily unavailable
As a workaround for the titular issue, I have tried enabling the "imap-hibernate" service on a couple of servers to reduce the number of running imap processes. Since ~50-60% of clients are in IDLE at any one time, this allows us to reduce the number of running imap processes to less than half of what it was. After this I have yet to see the "net_connect_unix(imap)
