recreate/re-provision DNS db from scratch?
Hi, Is there a way to re-initialize/re-provision DNS? I have a working domain with 100+ users and computers etc.. I want to preserve all those users, settings and group policies etc, only start the DNS part from scratch. Why? I've been having some (mysterious) issues with Samba 4 DNS since.. well.. I suppose since I started with 4.0.6 (migrated from Samba 3.x) but from a users' point of

Hai, ? i was reading: ? http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO#Testing_DNS? which stats : Don't use BIND9_FLATFILE! It's not documented and supported!? ? This is wrong imo.? ? bind9_flatefile works fine, it just does not support multi master dns, and bind9_DLZ does. so you must setup a master/slave setup for bind9 with flatfile ? If you need to run a network with

Question re kerberos . . .
I've used the Samba AD DC HOWTO <https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO> to install Samba 4 as an Active Directory/Domain Controller. I've successfully configured the domain/realm and DNS (as far as I can tell) and worked my way through Testing Your Samba Domain Controller <https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO#Testing_Your_Samba_Domain_Controller>

Samba 4.1.6 and 4.1.7 Kerberos problem on Debian Linux
I am trying to setup an AD using a Linux server to get away from Windows Server 2008. So far I have tried the setup on both a Debian 7.4 64 bit machine, and a Raspberry Pi (Debian variant). I've tried both Samba stable versions 4.1.6 and 4.1.7, and they both give me the same results. I followed the instructions to install the Samba 4 AD setup at

Some time ago someone told me I can check this by verifying if exists the user 'dns-hostname'. But, what if this user has been deleted? Samba4 - Win7 RSAT tools - global catalog (GC) cannot be contacted
Fresh install of 4.0.6 from source on CentOS 6 minimal. Provisioning worked fine as did adding a Win7 Pro machine to the domain. Now trying to use the RSAT (Remote System Administration Tools), specifically the Active Directory Users and Computers tool. When I moved on to 'folder re-direction' I tried to open GPO management on my W7 client and received a "User policy could not be updated successfully . . ." on the windows CP console. Started googling the error and ran into "samba-tool ntacl

Permissions at the top of a Samba share
Hi, I have a question regarding permissions at the top of a share as seen from a Windows 10 client. We are using Samba 4.10.6-Debian (van Belle) on Debian 10 (Buster) with one AD controller and one file server. The top directory of our main share on the file server has, on the Linux level, these permissions reported by getfacl: # file: ... # owner: root # group: domain\040users # flags: ---
