OpenNebula on CentOS-6
hi, Some of you might have seen the email on the centos-devel list, for the rest I just wanted to point out that we've been working on getting opennebula ( http://www.opennebula.org/ ) rpms and contextualised images for opennebula available with a very low barrier to entry for CentOS. The 'win' with OpenNebula is that its easy to install, easy to get going, scales well and mostly

Bind failed: Can't contact LDAP server
With 3.0a15, samba can't seem to connect to the ldap server. AFAIK the ldap server is working correctly -- it currently authenticates some users for apache. My smb.conf contains this: --[snip]-------------------------- ldap server = localhost ldap port = 389 ldap suffix = "dc=calmiron, dc=com" ldap admin dn = "cn=Manager, dc=calmiron, dc=com" use spnego=no

Re: NUMA issues on virtualized hosts
Hello, ok, I found that cpu pinning was wrong, so I corrected it to be 1:1. The issue with iozone remains the same. The spec is running, however, it runs slower than 1-NUMA case. The corrected XML looks like follows: <cpu mode='host-passthrough'><topology sockets='8' cores='4' threads='1'/><numa><cell cpus='0-3'

Unable to connect to Samba share from Windows XP (SOLVED)
Hi, I just got the whole thing to work; many thanks for your help! Turns out the final obstacle was the smbusers file mapping; for some strange reason I can't imagine, the writing permissions get messed up when the security level is set to "share" and there is a mapping to the smbusers file explicitly set in the smb.conf file. Now, without that mapping, I'm able to access, read

Running libvirt on a virtualized server
Hi everyone I'm trying to create a virtual machine using OpenNebula [1] on a centos 6.4 server, but i'm facing some erros using kvm / libvirt. This server is running on a virtual machine created on XCP. Then, my infrastructure is: XCP 1.6 (hypervisor - dom0) + CentOS 6.4 (running on a XCP VM) + OpenNebula 4.0.1 (installed on CentOS). In the host machine, I have the same infrastructure.

an OS X installer
I don't want to pour water on this idea since a nice installer would be helpful for the "less-techy" (had to climb a pretty steep learning curve myself...). But I do want to point out that both "fink" and "darwinports" provide nice ways to install UNIX software such as icecast onto OS X, and they magically fulfill the dependencies etc. Are you aware of those?
