Cannot get the syntax of --include-from right
Here is part of my backup script:
nice -n 15 rsync -avl --exclude=".*" \
--include-from="/home/bob/backup_includes" \
"$fromdir" "$todir"
Here is the content of /home/bob/backup_includes
/home/bob/.vimrc

My problem is that neither the .vimrc nor .gitconfig are copied to the
backup directory.
I have read the man page about

Xen hypervisor on CentOS 7.4 with modern UEFI server not booting from grub
I checked and secure boot is turned off.
Jonathan brings it exactly to the point: we have to face UEFI because
legacy mode is fading out, if I enable legacy mode I can't even boot
anymore through the network (PXE) as these newer network cards can
only boot PXE with UEFI.
In the mean time I have installed Ubuntu 17.10 with Xen and I was
lucky to see that this combination works with UEFI even

Xen hypervisor on CentOS 7.4 with modern UEFI server not booting from grub
Hi,
I installed CentOS 7.4 on a modern Lenovo ThinkSystem SR630 server
which uses UEFI. So far so good CentOS 7.4 works fine so then I went
on to install the Xen hypervisor by following the instructions from
the wiki (https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Xen/Xen4QuickStart).
Unfortunately when I reboot after having installed the xen package the
system does not boot into "CentOS Linux, with Xen

Installing owncloud on CentOS 7 server
I transitioning an owncloud installation from a C6 server to a new C7 server and used yum install owncloud to install it on the C7 server. I expected /var/www/owncloud to be generated but alas not. Quick Googling just showed examples of installing from the latest owncloud repository but not using yum.
Have I missed something obvious when using yum to install?

OwnCloud vs NextCloud
I am planning to install either ownCloud or NextCloud on a CentOS 7 VPS server I control. I have previously used ownCloud on another server but have not updated the host application for quite some time. On this new server, I am not sure which one is the "best" and since I am doing a new install I need to decide which one to use.
Looking at the Android apps for these cloud solutions,

Upcoming OwnCloud changes
Just a FYI folks ...
I am running OwnCloud 9.0.2 on CentOS 6.7 and php-7.0 with no issues.
I installed the Webtatic repo which has several versions of PHP
available for CentOS 6 and 7. I then used the official OwnCloud
ce:stable repo to add the cloud software.
In a leap of faith, and because this CentOS VM doesn't run anything
other than OwnCloud, I used the 'php70w' PHP repo

OwnCloud vs NextCloud
OwnCloud came first, but IIRC, when the business managers took it partially
commercial, the original developer split and forked it to make NextCloud as
he didn't like the OwnCloud policies [1]

Thunderbird vs. Evolution vs. OwnCloud
Hi,
I'm currently using Thunderbird synced to OwnCloud on my main
workstation running Slackware64 14.1. I just installed CentOS 7 on my
Asus S300 laptop. It's running nicely, and I'm spending some time
getting acquainted with it.
I wonder if I should stick with Thunderbird or go with the default
Evolution application, since this seems to be better integrated into the
desktop, namely

owncloud on CentOS - I have problems installing/updating recently
Dear Experts,
after quite some time of praising ownclowd, I started having problems with
installing and updating desktop owncloud-client on CentOS. Namely, yum
repository owncloud.org points to for rpm/yum based Linux distributions
lives on suse.com site (well, for all flavors of Linux, actually). I
remember it smelled fishy for me the first time I installed ownclouud on
CentOS using that

res_calendar / ownCloud
Hi,
I try to use res_calendar with ownCloud. While it works with google/ics,
I've some difficulties with caldav and ownCloud[1]. According to the
logs and tcpdump the calendar entries have been fetched but they are not
available in Asterisk. 'calendar show calendars' doesn't show the status
busy, 'calendar show calendar owncloud' doesn't show the current
events.

question: dovecot lda running as special user (vmail) or normal user (marcel)?
Dear Mailing List,
(version and dovecot -n at the bottom)
(Sorry for the bad English in this mail :) )
I'm new to dovecot and wanted to build my own mailserver using
dovecot+postfix.
I currently have a Problem with Permissions with my mailfolder.
I could solve it easily if i set it with chmod to 777. but thats no real
solution.
While reading my log files i see a lot messages like:
