Error: userdb lookup
Hi list,
I am trying to get rid of the "Error:
file_dotlock_create(~/.dovecot.lda-dupes) failed: No such file or
directory" by adding home directories to my virtual users (ldap).
I want this home dir' to be specified like this:
/var/vmail/$USER/home/
and the sieve scripts to go to:
/var/vmail/$USER/home/sieve/
So as suggested before in this list, I have replaced:

setgid failed - Not owner
Hello ALL,
I got errors on a new installation, maybe I forgot something.
The system is Solaris, Dovecot 1.2.10, Postfix 2.7.0, MySQL 5.1.25.
Can send mail with dovecot imap, but can`t retrieve the messages.
Strange, I can save and retrieve draft messages ok, files are always
with postfix:postfix ownership.
Sorry if this is newbie question, but can`t find a solution.

Postfix & Dovecot LDA
Hi,
before I start to write a lengthy email about something that isn't
really possible anyway: can I make Postfix use Dovecot's LDA and start
it with different user IDs?
My scenario: Dovecot authenticates users for Postfix and itself using
Postgresql. Mails for two domains should be stored under
/srv/<domain>/<user> (which is the location returned by my user_sql
query and

Random LDA failure to access auth socket
Greetings all.
Please forgive me if I'm posting something that has already been
addressed, but my google-foo is not strong enough to find the solution.
I've got a dovecot server running version 2.0.19 on Gentoo Hardened. I
have Postfix as my MTA, and it is calling the Dovecot LDA to deliver the
mail. Everything is working great, mail is being delivered, and the users
are happy.

Postfix : lda problem
Hi,
I come back with my problem:
On debian lenny, using dovecot 1.1.13-2~bpo50+1 I try to configure my
setup (with Postfix virtual
domains) to use dovecot as lda but nothing happens, as if postfix not
delegate to dovecot
I am using the contreol panel alternc (http://www.alternc.org).
All the maildir are in the format
/var/alternc/mail/i/info_domainepublic.net for info at domainepublic.net

LDA and postfix with recipient delimiter: documentation
Just a comment about the documentation for postfix integration when
using receipient delimiter and delivery of user+foo at domain.ext to
user at domain:
http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA/Postfix
I had some issues to get this working, so thought I'd share my
experience. Dovecot version 1.2.rc3. Postfix version

quota not working on delivery
Hi, I am using the Debian dovecot packages and the deliver LDA from
postfix, all version 1.0.beta8. My problem is with quota support,
I am using Maildirs. The relevant configuration stuff is included at
the bottom of this email.
Quota support seems to work with IMAP. However, even when IMAP
complains about an account being over quota, the deliver LDA still
happily writes new mail to the (correct)

need help with dovecot-lda
Hello all!
Some month ago I upgraded our dovecot installation from version 1.0.5
to version 2.1.7 without having any trouble. Postfix is delivering
email directly per virtual transport to the maildirs and mailboxes of
the users in /var/spool/vhosts/domains/....
Now I want to use dovecot-lda and created a new entry in the master.cf
of postfix.

Valid config for lda_mailbox_autosubscribe with dovecot 1.2?
Hi,
Due to some reasons I've to support both dovecot 1.2 and dovecot 2.x, and I
just found that the -s parameter I used to autosubscribe to sieve folders
doesn't exist anymore in dovecot 2.x
The problem arises because (AFAIK) in postfix's master.cf you can only
specify one configuration, and I used to have this:
dovecot unix - n n - - pipe

IMAP storage - mail_location = maildir:~/Maildir:mbox:~/mail/
I'm moving to IMAP and trying to understand all the details of where to
save email. The system is CentOS running sendmail - procmail which
delivers as:

I'm trying also to use Usermin as the webmail client. I can get mail to
deliver to $HOME/Maildir/ and I can get clients (thunderbird outlook
etc) to view them. However Usermin seems stuck with saving

dovecot LDA w/virtual domains and postfix
Hi,
I've been trying to follow the documentation that I am finding, but am running
into trouble getting things set up correctly for postfix + virtual domains
(using ldap) with dovecot LDA. I can get it to work without LDA, but I'm
running into permissions problems when I try to run with LDA. I am wondering
if anyone has any good examples of configuring this.
I basically have a

mail delivery location wrong
Hi,
thanks for offering the oportunity to place a question here.
I am now already working since a week to get postfix and dovecot working
on a ubuntu 11.04 server.
Hard task. First step was naturally to get familiar with the idea behind
the archtitecture.
I have come very far, but the "last dirty mile" is probably the hardest.
My architecture:

sieve sending vacation message from vmail@ns1.domain.tld
I have a server running centos-release-7-2.1511.el7.centos.2.10.x86_64
with dovecot version 2.2.10. I am also using roundcube for webmail.
when a vacation filter (reply with message) is created in roundcube it
adds a rule to managesieve.sieve in the user's mailbox. everything
works fine except the reply comes from vmail at ns1.domain.tld instead of
user at domain.tld. ns1.domain.tld

Sendmail + deliver; silent errors.
Hi all.
I've got a bit of a peculiar issue here. I'm running dovecot 1.2.9 on
an Ubuntu 9.10 box using Sendmail 8.14.3. I've set up Sendmail similar
to <http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA/Sendmail> except that
*) dovecot's deliver is configured as my default local mailer, so
some of the flags for the Mailer definition had to be adjusted
accordingly.
*) The setuid users

Also, please provide an example scenario; i.e., for one problematic
delivery provide:
- The values of the variables substituted in the dovecot-lda command
line; i.e., provide that command line.
- The incoming e-mail message.
Regards,
Stephan.

When dovecot delivery, nested maildir (<user>/maildir/maildir) is "auto"created
Scenario: Sogo/Mysql+Postfix+Dovecot(only IMAP)+LDAP (Active Directory)
To make clean the understand of my issue I've performed those step
go to /var/vmail/utente2 and perform in this directory "rm -rf *"
After I send email to utente2 via "telenet localhost 25"
I return to /var/vmail/utente2 and perform "ls -la" that shows me:

Changing a user's shell on CentOS Directory Server?
Should unprivileged users be able to change their shell with lchsh on
5.3 and, if it matters, CentOS Directory Server? lchsh seems to
require more open permissions than those which come with a default
installation:
Error initializing libuser: could not open configuration file
`/etc/default/useradd': Permission denied.

On-delivery deduplication?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA256
Hi,
A feature of Cyrus-IMAPd I really missed after migrated to Dovecot is
their optional "duplicate suppression", which eliminates duplicate
message at deliver time, if their envelope sender, recipient and
message-id matches. For example, if one subscribes to a mailing list,
and someone hit "Reply All" to reply to him, there
