Two XGL questions
I know this list is meant for discussion of compiz specifically, but ....
1) I sometimes see compiz spit out "Could not bind pixmap to texture"
messages, even though it _appears_ to be working fine. I randomly
guess that this is due to me running out of video memory (iirc I
have 64mb of vram). Is that possibly a problem? I think Vista and
OS X manually manage video

[PATCH] Implement window zoomin/zoomout on create/unmap
This patch makes windows zoom in and out of a zero point on
create/unmap. I've cleaned up the formatting/style to be consistent with
the rest of compiz (eg adding spaces around operators, tabifying, using
C style comments).
This patch could use some more work. It should only apply to decorated
toplevels, but right now it also affects XUL menus (I guess because they
are not unmanaged like

compiz 0.3.6 in fedora rawhide
Hi,
I've just updated compiz in fedora rawhide and wanted to post a quick
overview of the patches we still carry. Patch details are available
here:
http://cvs.fedora.redhat.com/viewcvs/rpms/compiz/devel
terminate-move.patch
restart.patch
These are already upstream, but not yet in a released version.

compiz on aiglx redux
Hi,
I've revisited compiz on aiglx and at this point, if you're running
rawhide (fedora development), it's a matter of installing the i386 RPM
found here:
http://people.redhat.com/krh/compiz/
There's a SRPM there too for other architectures, rebuild using
rpmbuild --rebuild compiz-0.0.13.fedora1-3.src.rpm
To run compiz, first start the gnome-window-decorator process in

[LLVMdev] Why JITC?
I guess this is slightly offtopic, but the post about the JIT and garbage
collection made me wonder why LLVM supports JIT compilation at all. It has
much smaller scope for optimisation due to the speed requirements, takes
more memory and causes the same work to be repeated over and over for each
execution.
What reason is there for anything to use JIT compilation over
ahead-of-time compiling to

compiz/zoom question
Hello all,
I was wondering is it possible to add the input functionality to the
zoom plugin? Currently zoom plugin is one of my favorite ones, I can
open a terminal and still not increase font size but zoom on and READ
it...
... because I'm not able to input anything to it, please correct me if
I'm wrong; maybe it is already possible, but I still don't know how to
do that...

Misc WM buglets
Switching viewports/desktops/cube faces seems to mess up the stacking
order - Quinn Storm says the visible stacking order isn't reflected
somewhere else.
Bottommost windows don't seem to work right - not sure if this is a bug
in compiz or gimmie but Gimmies button bar never drops below maximized
windows and it does in Metacity. Will investigate when I get a chance.
thanks -mike

Compiz ignoring changes in gconf in Opensuse 10.2
Hi,
I have recently upgraded to Opensuse 10.2 from 10.1
and all the changes that I am making in gconf have no
effect on compiz. I am running compiz as a window
manager in kde and I have followed the instructions
for running compiz in Opensuse 10.2.
However if I change in session manager the preferred
window manager to kwin and then put compiz.desktop in
Autostart directory all the changes in

compiz-0.5.0
Hello,
I just tried compiz-0.5.0 on my asus laptop with a intel 945gm chipset
using intel_drv on
the latest FC6 and get the following messages:
The latest release of beryl does have this problem.
How can I fix compiz to make it work?
$ compiz --replace --indirect-rendering

switch metacity->compiz (compiz ignores its own settings)
I have configured compiz to use 1 workspace and 4 viewports and metacity
to use 4 workspaces.
When I start compiz while metacity was running it uses 4 workspaces and
4 viewports (ignoring the gconf settings).
When I restart X so that compiz is started before metacity this does not
happen (it uses what its configured for).
bug or feature?
if feature can it be disabled?

Compiz and Beryl are Reuniting
After several weeks of discussion the leaders of Compiz and Beryl have agreed
that the two communities shall reunite. This decision is supported by both
David and Quinn and represents the majority decision of the administrators
and developers in each community. At this early stage not a lot has been
decided, but these are the main points of the agreement:
- As had previously been decided,

Can't Turn OFF compiz autostart since 0.7.4.x
Devs, compiz listmates:
Why can't I turn off compiz autostart on openSuSE 10.3 i386? Compiz just
decided to start automatically with KDE login ever since I upgraded to the
first 0.7.4.x release from the openSuSE build service. I have tried to disable
it by creating the file "disable-compiz" in ~/.config/compiz but compiz still
starts at login. Even if I switch to kwin before

Compiz porting plan, for help
David & All,
As you might have heard, Intel recently introduced a new low-power device called a Mobile Internet Device (MID). We're working in Intel's Open source Technology Center on the Linux Desktop UI. Given the small screen we're planning on using a stack-based window manager where each application runs full-screen (think Matchbox). We think it would be very cool to get a

Patch for Java app and Compiz
Hi to all:
My name is Mauricio and I write from Chili, I new on the list, so hi to all.
I'm using Xgl and compiz and is an amazing technologie, also even as a "alpha" software work allmost perfect on my inspiron 6400-ATIX1300.
I only have 2 problems. The first related to some java app and compiz (like limewire), so I read on the list something about a patch to try to solve this, I

General compiz questions
I've been using compiz on KDE for a while now and I like the eye
candy. Thanks to all who made this possible. I'm usually a no-nonsense
guy who doesn't care about eye candy (I'm not even using a background
picture because I'm worried about the memory it'll use (on a machine
with 2 GB of RAM) :) ) but compiz stormed (sic!) my defences.
Now for my questions:
1. compiz is a

Compiz Community
Hello,
I'm new to compiz and to this list but I'd like to contribute. I couldn't find
a more appropriate place to ask a few questions about the compiz project
(which is actually my first question).
1. Since the apparent compiz/beryl fork I don't see a compiz "community" site.
Is there one?
2. Is compiz going to continue to be developed, and if so, is there a road

Discussion about Compiz and working togeher
I would like to get a better understanding as to why
Quinn's patches have not been accepted into the compiz
git tree.
I feel Quinn's patches could greatly improve compiz.
She has made quite a lot of progress wrt to enhancing
compiz with her cgwd window decorator which allows
users to write their own themes for window
decorations.
Also, many of the plugins that are in compiz.net are
