I'm Sure I'm Missing Something Simple and Stupid, But...
Problem: When I try to open a samba share from a Windows 2003 R2 computer, I get a login challenge. When winbind and smb start up, the logs look clean except for the following: smbd.log -------- [2008/11/11 04:42:16, 3] lib/privileges.c:get_privileges(261) get_privileges: No privileges assigned to SID [S-1-22-1-0] [2008/11/11 04:42:16, 3] lib/privileges.c:get_privileges(261)

convert_string_talloc: Conversion error: Incomplete multibyte sequence
My users are having a lot of problems since I upgraded a samba domain member server from samba-3.0.37 to 3.5.X. The main issue seems to be a very long delay loading office files (sometimes minutes if the file loads at all) and a lot of read only errors and users not being able to save. I have found that rebooting the client, restarting samba, or killing the users smbd process regains access to the

Samba Printing api_rpcTNP: \spoolss: SPOOLSS_OPENPRINTEREX failed
Thats really annoying because the printing with samba is not possible, just printing directly to cups is possible. The clients are working with UTF-8, the server is working with UTF-8, don't know why character conversion should be a problem here. Samba Printing api_rpcTNP: \spoolss: SPOOLSS_OPENPRINTEREX failed
Hello, after upgrading to samba 3.5.6 of Debian Squeeze some printouts will not printed. The same prinjob will printed after a couple of tries. I increased the loglevel and there are only a few messages which showing whtat could be the problem. The printjobs doesn't arrive at cups. Unable to Join Samba Domain: Password Error
Hi all, I am attempting to join a Centos7 machine to a Samba NT4 domain. I have created an account on our OpenLDAP server and ensured it has the default password. However trying to join the domain is consistently throwing an error. >From the machine that is trying to join the domain, I get this (edited for brevity): $~ net rpc join -U <user>%<passwd> -d 1 -I

Problems printing with samba 3.5.2
Ok, I finally deployed samba 3.5.2 (upgrading from 3.0.11) on the real server after testing for a while in virtualbox. There's a strange problem with printing: sometimes an application gives an error printing (of course the error message is meaningless, this is windows after all) and/or the job gets lost in transit. After that stopping and restarting the local print spool service solves the

upg. CentOS 7.5 to 7.6: unable to mount smb shares - samba NT domain member using ldap
Originally I posted this question at CentOS forum 20.12.2018. https://www.centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=69193 Hi all, I am not able to mount samba shares after upgrading CentOS 7.5 to 7.6. I have been searching and trying to configure samba and winbind but no success. I find a lot of manuals and help pages about setting samba and winbind for machine acting as AD DC member but

slow directory access, convert_string_internal: Conversion error: Incomplete multibyte sequence
There are definitely some files with some weird names- in an ssh session they don't even have regular characters. e.g -rw-rw---- 1 xxx xxx 114985112 Oct 31 14:39 ▒^t Not sure if that is related to problems though. The top command shows Memory: 12G phys mem, 343M free mem, 2048M total swap, 2048M free swap This is in the evening so should not be much load but I think

get_share_mode_lock: get_static_share_mode_data failed: NT_STATUS_NO_MEMORY
Upgraded to Samba 4.11.2 and I?ve now too started seeing the message: get_share_mode_lock: get_static_share_mode_data failed: NT_STATUS_NO_MEMORY A lot. I modified the source in source3/locking/share_mode_lock.c a bit in order to print out the values of the service path, smb_fname & old_write_time when it fails and it seems they are all NULL? 'winbind use default domain' doesn't appear to work with ntlm_auth
Hi everyone, We just upgraded Samba from 4.4.5 to 4.6.5 and appear to be experiencing a problem with authentication, when the RPC domain is not supplied as part of the username. I have two scenarios where this has cropped up: RADIUS authentication using ntlm_auth Apache HTTP using mod_auth_ntlm_winbind RADIUS authentication: We use the freeRADIUS 'mschap' module to provide
