Samba and Active Directory
Hi,
I'm trying to join my Linux file server to an AD domain. I've looked at
several different documents describing how to do this, but I still am not
able to get everything to work correctly.
I am able to join my domain, but I cannot use smbclient to connect to
another file server in the domain, nor can I connect to the samba server from
my desktop PC.
My kerberos tickets seem to be in

NFS shutdown issue
Hi all,
I have an odd interaction on a CentOS 7 file server. The basic setup is a
minimal 7.x install. I have 4 internal drives (/dev/sd[a-d]) configured in
a RAID5 and mounted locally on /data. This is exported via NFS to ~12
workstations which use the exported file systems for /home. I have an
external drive connected via USB (/dev/sde) and mounted on /rsnapshot. I
use rsnapshot to back up

Xen and Torque
Dear Xen users.
Have anyone tried to integrate Xen with Torque resource management system?
Could you please help me with an advice for a system I''m developing that
relies on torque.
Let me describe the system first.
The part of the system that talks with torque should request a certain
amount on nodes of a cluster and launch there a virtual machine instance
(one vm instance per host).

Mark, You might really want to compile torque from source (into an RPM
if you'd like) and redistribute that. Every version is a little wonky
and those of us that use(d) it often will poke around until we find a
version / patch-set that makes us happy and stick with that for a bit.
It's not an exact science and newer / higher versions are not always better.
As for the downgrade comment:

Mounting File Share Using CIFS ?'s
I have been trying to mount a windows file share so I can use it for
remote storage particularly for my Deki Wiki attachments.
Anyway, I seem to have a mount established by doing the following.
1. Added following line to /etc/fstab
//fs01/wikidata /var/www/dekiwiki/attachments cifs
user,uid=500,rw,suid,username=wikisvcacct,password=testpwd,domain=corporate
2. Then ran following command to

NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
Hi,
I've installed Fedora C1 with Samba 3.0.2 and openldap 2.1.22. I've
followed the example in the Samba-3 by example guide to use my server as a
PDC. I'm able to connect to this server with all my users but I'm unable
to use "Administrator" to log. Maybe it's normal but I doubt it. Here's
the log I got for smbclient:
[root@fs01 sbin]# smbclient -L

FW: LDAP getent issues
Hi,
I've gone through the following link about member server and also the samba 3 by example and can confirm that nsdc is not enabled.

Samba not working with sssd on CentOS 6.5
Hello everyone.
I joined this list because I cannot find an answer to my problem. The
setup is this:
I installed CentOS release 6.5 (Final) minimal version
Updated all packages
Added the server to the Active Directory domain as a member server
using the method described here (using adcli, kerberos and sssd):

It worked, I tested by trying to connect through

Hi,
We are having some issues with LDAP authentication. Here is our setup
PDC and LDAP(samba classic) = dc01
SambaClassic domain = stdom
Member server = fs01
We migrated from TDB to LDAP. The old TDB users are able to login to the domain and access file shares without issues. Any new user created in LDAP is not able to access the shares. When trying to create shared drives for the new users

HPC question: torques replacement
Dear Experts,
I know there are many HPC (high performance computing) experts on this
list. I'd like to ask your advise.
Almost two decades ago I chose to go with OpenPBS (turned down condor
and other alternatives for whatever reason) for clusters and number
crunchers I support for the Department at the university. It turned out
to be not bad, long lived choice. At some point I smoothly

HPC question: torques replacement
Hey Valeri -
IIRC, midway (and maybe midway2?) use slurm for job scheduling. I don't know how many of your faculty use both your nodes and midway, but maybe consolidating on to a single scheduler would be easier for them?
(also, it's been a while ... hi! ? )

Broken pipe, x86_64 CentOS 5.2
Hi All,
I have a problem with torque (openPBS) on x86_64 CentOS 5.2. Just to add there's
no problem on a 32bit CentOS 5.2 or 64bit Ubuntu 8.04.
The problem is that pbs_mom's child quits without giving any error logs.
[root at frodo9 torque-2.3.3]# strace -f pbs_mom

Client station file permission behavior changes after a week or so
> Thanks Roland.
Yes, I didn't even look to verify my fileserver is a DC. I must have debated
a few times about the choice and forgot my last decision when installing.
I know it's not recommended to run a fileserver on an AD DC, but hopefully
you can still offer some advice on troubleshooting.
Maybe this isn't even a smb config issue. It could be Windows related???
