[samba4] Thank you to the Samba Team
Hi, I wanted to write this message in order to thank the Samba team for the work they provided. With some colleagues we had to organize a national competitive examination for the Education (in France) for which the candidates worked on computers (on Windows 7). After thought, we had decided to use Samba4 with : - a domain controller on a Debian Wheezy (it was a virtual machine that we had

Cannot write on share
Hi Maybe it is a FAQ, but i've got some problem with mi samba installation: i edited the smb.conf file to create some shares, one for each partition of the disk of the linux box (all of these are mounted at boot in /c, /d, etc.) plus two shares for my cdroms and one for the zip drive (/cdron /cdscsi /zip); each of these directories has permissions set to rwxrwxrwx and i enabled guest account

Good practices to make a Kerberos "mount.cifs" launched by root but with the credentials of another user
Hi, I have a Debian Stretch computer which is a "samba4 member server" of an Samba4 AD domain (versions etc. are mentioned at the end of the message). I think my config is OK and I can open a _graphical_ session with an AD account user. The display manager of the computer is Lightdm. For for instance, I can open a graphical session with the AD account bob (uid == 14001). In this case, I

rsync processes never die
Greets. I'm using rsync 2.5.2 but have seen this with 2.5.1. My system is Red Hat 7.2 with the current errata updates. Using rsyncd with xinetd it seems as if old processes never go away. For example right now I have 3 open rsync connections according to netstat -nap but 30 rsync --daemon processes going! All of them show: [root@root]$ ps ax | grep rsync 24950 ? S 0:05 rsync

Excessive imap-logins, never die
Hiya, Today I note there are 38 imap-logins that seem to be stale on our staff imap server, they do not seem to die off, new imap-logins are created with new logins and exit accordingly. Now, these are from our monitoring software that runs on another server on our LAN. Our corporate link was taken down for 2 hours for urgent relocation of fibre (demolishing old adjoining building, and just in

Lazy Samba (that'd make it Waltz)
Funny thing happening with an NT Client: it sees all the files in a public Samba share, but when I make any change (like renaming a file or dropping files into it) the change doesn't show up in the window until I press F5 (Refresh). Is it some config in Samba whichs defaults to "lazy" behavior which I'm failing to see? Thanx 4All, Juan --

When ungraded from Ubuntu 11.04 to 11.10, dovecot can't start successfully with lots of errors i.e. "dovecot: doveconf: Warning: ... 'imaps' protocol is no longer necessary, remove it"... Question about Logon hours....auto logoff feature?
Can enforcing logon hours (which works great for me here to *prevent* logging in past your hours) also force a logoff? Can this at least be scripted somehow? Server is Fedora FC4 (currently samba 3.0.14a...upgrading probably by the time I get an answer to latest stable)....Windows 98SE and Windows XP Pro clients. Thanks! Mark
