subsetting levels of a vector
Hi,
I need to subset different levels of vector in a dataset to create a new dataframe that contains only these. These observations are not numerical, so I can't use the subset() function (at least this is the response I get from R).
Suppose the dataframe looks like this:
ParticipID ERP Electrode
1 s1 0.0370 FP1
2 s2 35.0654 FP2
3 s3

PCA and gglot2
Hi,
I was trying as well as looking for an answer without success (a bit strange
since it should be an easy problem) and therefore I will appreciate you
help:
My simple script is:
# Loadings data of 5 columns and 100 rows of data
data1<-read.csv("C:/?/MyPCA.csv")
pairs(data1[,1:4])
pca1 <- princomp(data1[,1:4], score=TRUE, cor=TRUE)
biplot(pca1)
The biplot present the data

Subsetting year range
Hi,
I have a panel data set that I am trying to subset. I am trying to keep
values for years >=1960.
The full set is from 1940 to 2000.
I tried a few things, but none worked. Here are a couple that I am trying to
use.
TableAPS1 <- subset(TableAP, year => 1959)
TableAPS1 <- TableAP[ which(year > 1959),]
It would be really nice if someone can point out what I am doing wrong

Splitting a character vector.
I am lousy at simple regex and I have not found a solution to a simple problem.
I have a vector with some character values that I want to split.
Sample data
dd1 <- c( "XXY (mat harry)","XXY (jim bob)", "CAMP (joe blow)", "ALP (max jack)")
Desired result
dd2 <- data.frame( xx = c("XXY", "XXY", "CAMP",

Probit cluster-robust standard errors
If I wanted to fit a logit model and account for clustering of observations, I would do something like:
library(Design)
f <- lrm(Y1 ~ X1 + X2, x=TRUE, y=TRUE, data=d)
g <- robcov(f, d$st.year)
What would I do if I wanted to do the same thing with a probit model?
?robcov says the input model must come from the Design package, but the Design package appears not to do probit?
Thanks very

plot 2 y axis
Hi,
I want to plot two variables on the same graph but with two y axis just
like what you can do in Excel. I searched online that seems like you can
not achieve that in ggplot. So is there anyway I can do it in a nice way in
basic plot?
Suppose my data looks like this:
Weight Height Date
0.1 0.3 1
0.2 0.4 2
0.3 0.8 3
0.6 1

appears to be what you want.

R-help Digest, Vol 124, Issue 12
Folks,
Sorry for butting in here. I ran the code from John Kane below and it worked fine.
I did however get a deprecation message suggesting the use of ggpairs from the GGally package to make this chart.
Unfortunately I haven't found the correct incantation to get the diagonal to display the density plots using the "diag" parameter.
Any suggestions?

How to do a backward calculation for each record in a dataset
Hi Experts,
I have a dataset of 3 columns:
customer.name product cost
John Toothpaste 30
Mike Toothpaste 45
Peter Toothpaste 40
And I have a function of cost whereby
cost = 3.40 + (1.20 * no.of.orders^2)
I want to do a backward calculation for each records (each customer) to
find his no.of.orders and create a new column named "no.of.orders" in that

SAS code into R code.
Say for example that I have a dataset named "dat1" that includes five

following SAS code the mean, CV, se, and number of observations of
"bda" and "sla" for each combination of

It works well until I try to add the confidence interval.
this is the error message and and a description of the data:

Replacing elements of list
Dear all,
I have following two list object, both are basically collection of matrices
:
dat1 <- matrix(rnorm(25*6), ncol=6)
dat1 <- split(dat1, seq(5,25,by=5))
dat1 <- lapply(dat1, matrix, ncol=6)
dat2 <- matrix(rnorm(25*4), ncol=4)
dat2 <- split(dat2, seq(5,25,by=5))
dat2 <- lapply(dat2, matrix, ncol=4)
Now I want to replace last 4 columns of each matrix at "dat1"
